This is less a vulgar "review," which could only capture a fraction of the fine delectables served at Shinnecock Lobster Factory; let us call this a love letter to the excellence achieved at this oasis.
I have eaten at many, many sea-fairing establishments. Some impressively exceeding of even high expectations, others crushing disappointments, nay; insults to the long history created by those who harvest their bounty from the vast and and unforgiving sea. The Lobster Factory is, so far from a shadow of a doubt one would think the sun had at last exploded, the greatest Oceanic Cuisine I have ever had the absolute privilege of consuming.
Many "seafood" restaurateurs attempt to wow one with fancy flourishes. Catfish or flounder, placed on a menu simply to illicit curious pining. Whereas, when matters return to the humble Lobster Roll, arguably the mainstay of any such fish monger worth his salt (pun very much intended, dear reader) laurels lay heavily rested upon. The noble lobster, one of the many gifts yielded by this marvelous Terra, speaks so for itself that many disregard attempts to extend further its already delicious properties.
Not so at the Lobster Factory.
The "Hamptons" Lobster roll prepared for me by these Grecian Heroes of Old allowed for the natural richness of the crustacean's meat, yet perfectly complimented it with a dollop of garlic infused condiment. Not too much mind you, not so to overwhelm the delicacy of the protein. A topping of chives brought a lovely savory tinge to the decadent dish. All encased in a crisp and light bread carriage that produced a positively wonderful crunch. All this, laid upon a bed of house-made potatoes crisped to salty, salty perfection, a surprisingly worthy addition to a meal so easily spoiled, yet so difficult to improve. A balance any tightrope-walker would nary but tremble at the sight of. But balance it did, with each bite my mind was ignited and my soul elevated. Beyond mere titillations of a satisfactory meal, I was moved past where this mortal promontory would allow, to a canopy of pure light and void. To what the Christian God must have provided in His Eden. To what Siddhartha must have meant when He uttered the word: Nirvana.
I felt... nothing, I wanted... for nothing. I was, at last, free.
The sweet tea was good too.
And to add to a creation that could have very well stood by itself, left alone atop it's pedestal, a champion with no need for comparison or compliment. But when at last I returned to the confinements of flesh and form, I discovered the feast was served by two humble artisans, who had achieved something a spiritual peasant such as myself could hardly dream or imagine or envision: Perfection. A black haired young lord, whose smile had likely melted the butter that had so moved me; and a golden haired woman with a voice far from this continent, perhaps of the East of Europe, perhaps Slavic or Baltic. He was a champion. She was a vision. And without pomp or circumstance, they proved what I had long suspected, that the greatest of gifts take the humblest of forms.

Read moreI am updating my previous review, which WAS a 5 star review from last summer. This place WAS fantastic. It seems they have decided to sacrifice quality for quantity. We went 3 weeks ago and got two lobster rolls and the lobster Mac, it was $100. The Mac and cheese was as good as always. The lobster rolls were soggy and the chips were burnt and tasted like they were fried in very dirty fryer oil. For the price, everything really should be spot on.
Now this isn’t really so bad. I contacted them via IG and received a nice message in response. They told me that’s not right and wanted to “make it right” I was told the restaurant would be in touch via email. After a solid week, I had not heard a peep from them. Again I message them and again I am told they will be in touch to make this right. It has been an entire week AGAIN since hearing that. So I’ve decided to write this review. It’s a damn shame they seem to have no issue making nice looking food for their social media posts, but that’s not the experience I had, and I doubt I am the only one. It’s a shame I have to now bad mouth them in a google review, and I am sure I will hear from them now, maybe? I get it, the summers NUTS, and mistakes happen.
Hopefully they make this write and improve further in the future.
At the time of writing this, I am leaving 2 stars. If I don’t hear from them, it will become 1 stars. I really don’t do this lightly, the business is not...
Read moreAfter being stuck in traffic for 2+ hours to then walking 30 mins to get to this establishment. Our excitement was crushed with the WORST customer service my husband and I could’ve ever encountered, as customers that have visited many places and tried many many food establishments this is by far the worst that takes first place of poor customer service. The young lady that worked today was very nonchalant and has zero respect for the customers that try to bring business to this restaurant. The menu was apparently limited to very few options of what they had to sell to customers today. We started calling our items from the menu we wanted to try to which she responded “no we don’t have” at least to 3 times of trying to order things. Without informing or suggesting alternatives or the options they had available, I was left without the choice of giving the same energy and asking “okay so you tell us what you have available if none of those are available” No smile, no apology, no care of customer service care. We went through so much that we didn’t not want to turn away because of how bad this customer service experience was. Ended up ordering only to like the Cajun lobster roll, which was the only thing we enjoyed out of visiting this restaurant. Very sad to lose customers because of this, because after us two other customers were followed up with the same behavior to which they...
