I dislike having to write really poor reviews particularly of small, cozy places that you WANT to like. But boy did this place earn their horrible rating.
Their staff is either lazy, high, racist, or some combination -- in their response I welcome an answer. Maybe they were just having a really ad day but the staff -- the staff truly just could not care. In spite of a restaurant being ... perhaps 30%? full, I couldn't get seated. Finally when I asked, I was pointed to a corner, which was perfectly fine, but then sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. No waitress came over, no water, no 'we are running slow and it might be a few minutes'. Just no attention. Nothing. I was invisible.
Apparently they don't serve certain racial demonimations of people. Or perhaps they have the least hard working waitstaff in the area. But my suspicions were reinforced as I heard the NYC couple next to me repeatedly ask where their food was as they had their order lost... for 40 minutes. They had to order again and remind the waiter several times. Yikes!!
So I sat, feeling ever more invisible and ever more angry, for over 20 minutes without having my order taken. Without a waitress talking to me, no eye contact, and obviously without any service. The food might be good but clearly only if you are the right racial demographic.
Were it possible The Country Kitchen Cafe deserves many, many negative stars in spite of several apparently otherwise nice reviews. I didn't see anything to merit any stars -- however it did seem a few locals were being served (the lady brought her niece).
No Soup For YOU!...
Read moreCalled to place an order for pickup. Spoke to a woman named Bella, supposedly the manager/owner. I heard they changed ownership! She really needs to take a class on customer service. Her demeanor in itself was not warm and happy as a matter of fact she was extremely arrogant taking the order. The whole phone call I could hear in her voice her unfriendliness and I kept calm. I proceeded to ask if I could have ketchup, jelly & butter in my bag. âWhy do you need jellyâ a snarled remark!!!! I said âexcuse meâ. âShe said the egg an avocado lay on the toast so why would you need jellyâ. I told her on the website the toast is pictured on the side with hashbrowns and avocado is on top of egg! How dare she give me an attitude and question why I wanted jelly! Very weird!!! It also comes off as very cheap!! You canât spare a Jelly haha and if I wanted to put jelly on my avocado thatâs my concern, not hers! Itâs very unfortunate when you see an ungrateful person with no customer service skills owning a business! They need to hire someone friendly who greets and answers phone with an upbeat personality. Thank you for ruining my day over an egg and toast meal wow đ I did not continue with my order with the CountryKitchen in Brewster, NY NO,...
Read moreAmazing breakfast! The food was delicious-fresh, homemade corned beef hash (yes, please), blueberry pancakes, Belgian wafflesâŚand terrific service. Shout out to Eduardo for his attention and professionalism and to Alex, the chef and owner. Weâll definitely return next time weâre upstate with the family! Update: We were finally able to come back to this wonderful restaurant after some time away, this time for dinner. The food is still exceptional - generous portions, delicious all around and plenty to share. The fried chicken was crispy and yummy (and donât get me started on the corn bread casserole⌠omg.) The shrimp tacos had just the right amount of heat. Our grandsons prefer the chicken parmigiana here more than any Italian restaurant theyâve ever visited. The service was impeccable - the young women were animated, friendly and very helpful. My only regret is that we live 2 hours away which keeps us from having the opportunity to visit more often. I suggest making a reservation. This restaurant is always busy and you want to be certain youâll get to taste their delicious offerings. I canât wait to come back. Thanks, guys⌠it was a...
