My first time in Long Island and found this super cute kitchen on google! The ambiance and decoration was cute and sweet with the Tiffany blue color. Hostess was friendly, and service was polite. However, I had a very interesting experience, that made me feel unsure about coming back here again.
For the first time ever I had an allergy reaction at a restaurant. I ordered the fish tacos. Within 3 min of eating the cabbage salad, my lips swelled up and was extremely itchy! I’ve never had this reaction to any food before, so was really surprised and scared at the same time. I brought this to my waiters attention since I was afraid to eat more because now my lips have turned from itchy to numb. The waiter very nicely explained to me all ingredients that were in the dish to see if I know what I might be allergic too, but after I told her I’m not sure what it might be, she said “aw I’m sorry” and left. This may be because she’s young and lack of experience dealing with this, but I wish she would have gone to a manger or someone that’s experience to deal with this after. But she didn’t and didn’t ask me if I’d like to order something else. I wasn’t sure how I can continue to finish the rest of my plate. After some contemplation, I decided to talk to someone else about needing to replace my lunch with something else since I was hungry and didn’t want to just watch my husband eat. This time I spoke to the friendly hostess with my request. But she ended up going back to the waitress, so the waitress came to ask me what I’d replace it with. I did feel a bit of unwillingness by her facial expression, but I need to eat. At the end, I did get a replacement meal to fill my stomach without more reaction to my lips.
If I may suggest something to the owner, I looked around and most of the waiters were younger which I think that’s great, but I feel that it’s important for them to be educated or at least have an experienced manager be visibly present with the customers for...
Read moreThis is a place I enjoy visiting from time to time for its location and vibe. At our recent visit (which was the first in a while), the food options were fantastic and bursting with flavor. LLK stepped it up in the savory category.
The atmosphere in the screenroom was "empty" which doesn't deter me and is why we gave it 3 stars.
The service was not the worst but far from the best. One of the young bus people kept kicking my chair as he walked by and there was PLENTY of room to navigate. He was fast and somewhat clumsy. He was carrying a chair from 1 table to another and slammed the back of my chair with the chair he was carrying, instead of lifting the chair. I asked another young man for water and he looked frightened that someone asked him for something and without saying a word back to me, he ran off and apparently never conveyed to anyone that a table wanted water. Our waiter only came to our table to bring us our dishes and we were VERY THIRSTY. He never checked to see how everything was or if we needed anything. As he took orders from other tables, we'd patiently await for him to walk away from that table before attempting to ask for water. Every time he passed our table, he kept his head down and avoided eye contact. It didn't bother us so much until we received the check and saw how expensive everything was for terrible service. If you're going to charge those prices, it's important to spend time training. They weren't rude employees so that's why we feel it wasn't the worst. We definitely won't be back for dinner, for these reasons. We've always had a nice...
Read moreWith a nice light blue exterior, kind of “Cape Cod blue” (to me), with nice sized outdoor seating. I hear they usually have a wait time of around 30 minutes to an hour on weekends, but since we were there on Friday, we didn’t see any line, yes!
The inside was nice and bright, with clean and simple design. It had one long wooden communal table in the middle, with more table seating on both sides. I liked the contract of the wood furniture against white floor and walls. It made the space looked bigger, and yet more cozy and homey. They have self-service coffee section by the bar counter, which was interesting.
This place offers breakfast menu until 2pm, so you can get both lunch and/or breakfast around the lunch time. I like breakfast any time of the day, so this was great! I ordered Pastrami Hash & Eggs which I heard was pretty good, but it didn't have much flavor, so I was disappointed... On the other hand, the Cod Sandwich was real surprise, in both size and flavor. It was super delicious!
The service was friendly and food was great, other than the hash. If we go back to Long Island in the future, I would visit here again and try something else. It was a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed our experience in lovely “LLK.” Read my full review of the restaurant and food on my food blog,...
