I picked this place for my birthday dinner because of the reviews, and sadly it was a terrible choice. We got there at 4:10pm, they opened at 4pm so we were first to arrive for dinner that evening. The staff was pre-occupied with setting up for a party that wasn't coming until 6:30pm. We were seated, but waited, what felt like 10 mins, before I had to ask the waiter for menus. We asked for different versions of 2 of the meals they offer, more towards our taste, and he accommodated us with no issues. They brought us bread in the meantime. It was ice cold & stale. I expected good Italian Bread, but this was so bad, it broke when you tried to butter it. They offered mussels in a white or red sauce as one of the day's appetizers, which I ordered with the white sauce. They were so overdone & chewy, I couldn't eat them. The white sauce was just okay. Not a lot of flavor. Our waiter was so inattentive, and more focused on the "pending party" it was hard to get his attention. He also, stated, "he kind of forgot about us" and we were waited on mostly by the busboys. I asked for cheese ravioli which was good, but not worth $27 for 8 ravioli. My husband had veal parm with angel hair pasta. The portion was good, but not enough marinara served with it. That was $32, again, not worth the price. This was a bad dining experience for us, and would have been more satisfied with my local pizzeria who can bang out all of the above for a lot less and the quality & service runs circles around Ciao Bella's of Monticello, NY. A wasted...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking for dinner with my sister and her husband after a couple of hours at the nearby casino. I found Ciao Bella online and saw that it was open until 11. I mentioned it to my sister while we were still at the casino and a gentleman at the table overheard us and told us it was a great restaurant. I wish I could thank that man now!
We were hungry and it was quite late (well after 10:00 pm) when we arrived. The head of house was SO welcoming and he sat us at the most perfect table (for me especially as I love a corner).
We were given fresh bread and a small antipasti platter straight away. We each ordered starters and main dishes and I wish I had taken photos! I was so hungry that I forgot. I had a scallop special to start. It was sublime! And everything was so beautifully presented. I also had the Fungi Ravioli which was incredible. It was perfectly cooked and so wonderfully flavoursome.
The service, though, was as good as the meal. Every single staff member that we encountered was friendly, warm, accommodating, and made us feel as if we had been eating there for years. I'm honestly blown away by the hospitality that we recieved... Even when we were the last table out the door! Nothing but smiles and handshakes and laughs.
I haven't had a meal as all around wonderful as this was in a good long while. I only wish that I didn't live...
Read moreWhen you walk into this place it's like walking into an authentic New York City Italian restaurant. The lighting is just right. The host and waiters treat you like family. They were funny, welcoming and friendly. There were 7 of us there on a girls trip to the Catskills from CT. My grandparents were Sicilian so I have had a lot of really good Italian food in my life. We had a three course meal. We all had salads which were compliments of the house! I had the salmon special with a mustard and champagne sauce and it was so delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was tangy and delicious. The mashed potatoes it came with were fluffy and so smooth. They reminded me of my mom's mashed potatoes but a little better...shhh don't tell her! Ha! Then came time to decide about dessert and omg when you go here you have to leave room for dessert!! It's like epic bucket list dessert! I had a peach sorbet and it's served inside a frozen perfectly ripe peach. It was so good I ate all of the sorbet and part of the peach. At the end of the night Gunny our host shook all our hands and said goodbye to each of us. If you want excellent Italian food at a reasonable price, good ambience and to feel like family when you walk in, this is the place for you. Just an amazing spot! I'm going to tell everyone I know about this place. Thank you so much Gunny for a...
