To make it short I was completely neglected and looked down by one of the employees (owner family members perhaps) while waiting in the line to take my order. (Employee is going back and forward running her thing so I know she is busy and I was not in a rush either so I just decided to wait) There was only one customer in front of me who i being helped and myself at this point. Two more Caucasian customers walked in and she decides to skip me to take over the people behind me. The customer let her know I was in front of them. So I was about to tell her what my order was when she suddenly turns her back and continues doing her duties. So I said excuse me I thought you were going to help me and her answer was that she was busy. (But not for the people that were behind me) I couldnāt believe that was happening; her disgusting look at me told me everything. This was a racial issue. This is the second time this happenes, and the first time I truly let it go giving her the benefit of doubt. Yet, today it really got me. I couldnāt believe my eyes, I felt so humiliated. After posting this on my social media and reading all the comments I came to realized this had not only happened to me. I got encourage to make this post to let our community know. This cannot be tolerated. It is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat an amazing bakery. When Iām in New York I have to find the best local restaurants and bakeries to try, which usually means asking the locals. This time I got the tip for quaint little bakery with big gourmet flare from family and I just had to check them out.
Hidden in an unassuming town DeFilippis Bakery is the real deal NY bakery. They serve up a variety of pies, cakes, fresh breads, etc. all baked daily from open to close. But I was on the hunt for special Italian treats I cannot buy in a Walmart or a Dunkin Donuts, I was searching for gourmet donuts, macaroons, and my wifeās favorite Italian Rainbow Cookies aka Rainbow Cake aka Italian Flag Cookies and DeFilippis has them all and more. From Black and White Cookies (not Oreos š¤£) to Tiramisu I found everything I was looking for and so much more. Itās astounding how many varieties they pack in their street front bakery š„Æ š§ šš„§šŖš©.
I only wish I could have gotten better pictures, but they didnāt last long š even though I bought about 2 lbs of Italian Rainbow Cookies š¬. I can hardly wait to go back because there were several desserts that we didnāt get to try like their Tiramisu. So I will definitely be returning soon, I love a good bakery but this is one of the greatest baked goods Iāve had the pleasure of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm on the fence with this one. I've been there twice now and although the food was excellent the layout is a little confusing and the staff isn't helpful at all. The 1st time the place was packed and I just kind of wandered around until a table opened up and someone waited on us. The second time it was empty and a young girl was helping someone with donuts and there were 4 people hanging around the register doing absolutely nothing. No one welcomed us, asked if they could help us or offered any acknowledgement. My Husband finally said I guess she's the only one working today, meaning the only person helping a customer. None of the 4 moved but another young woman happened to come out of the back and wait on us. We actually wanted to eat there but got coffee in take out cups but our donuts on real plates. The staff can make things so much more welcoming and less confusing...
