I haven't had a Thai curry since I worked at a Thai restaurant in Reno where the chef was from Thailand. Needless to say I was hesitant and skeptical to ruin the high pedestal that my memory had placed it prior to by ordering but I took the leap. I ordered the Panang curry. Two things stand out when I tasted it, the freshness of the ingredients and how spicy it was. I had to drive 30 minutes back to my place to enjoy the food so I was somewhat afraid the vegetables would be soft with no texture, this was not the case. Even with the commute the crispness still was present in the carrots as well as the burst of flavor from the cilantro (an ingredient that I absolutely crave). The broccoli florets weren't overcooked either and they carried the flavour of the curry quite well. The quality of the chicken stood out as it had absorbed the Panang curry (though the 30 minute commute might be attributed to this) and it wasn't sinewy or riddled with cartilage or fat deposits; I've had bad experiences with Hawaiian and Chinese places. For me I chase spicy cuisine like an adrenaline junky to the extent that I probably mask the overall flavour of the dish at times. I had my usual table-side companion of sriracha as I tend to have to "enhance" the level of spice in my take out. I know, very peasant behavior of me but I know what I like. This was not the case, it was just spicy enough for me to appreciate that I didn't feel the need to add sriracha to it. Plus the smooth flavour of a coconut based curry doesn't synergize with the sharp flavour inherent to sriracha. The quality of the rice was good. It's disappointing that many places overcook their rice and if you had a commute before you can enjoy your order.
Something personally misgiving to my own preference was the fact that I wasn't allowed to alter any of the menu items, this in itself isn't something I detracted a star for as I know I'm picky and if given the opportunity would abuse this avenue. This also forces me to experience flavors that I may not be as prevalent to as I have a tendency to try chasing the same ingredients. I have been hesitant about eating shrimp as it has in the past given me a slight queasy feeling so I did avoid trying a dish that had shrimp in it as it would have clouded my bias on this review. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and if I find myself back in Buffalo, I'll have to order some on my...
Read moreWe were hungry after arriving in Buffalo from Tampa and I was craving Thai food. We tried another place that was closer but they only offered take out options.
We called Jasmine, learned they and their dining room were open so we headed over.
They were welcoming and warm. I needed a place to charge my phone because it was low on battery. They helped me out.
For appetizers, I ordered the vegetable soup and my husband ordered papaya salad.
Their soup was a delight! I didn't try the papaya salad because it had peanuts but my husband finished it all by himself. He said you could tell by his empty plate how good it was.
For main course, I ordered the red curry chicken with brown rice, we got a gluten-free drunken noodles to share and my husband got their eggplant dish.
It was some of thee best red curry chicken I've ever had! I enjoyed it so much, I didn’t leave space for anything else.
My husband tried to devour the eggplant dish but it was so big he couldn't manage it.
When it was time to go, we had three take out containers and they offered us extra rice on the house!
Their food is the freshest-tasting Thai food in my view with additions of fresh cilantro, green onions, etc.
Their food is an experience, they offer huge servings of food so it's excellent value for money, their staff is very kind and friendly, the ambience in the restaurant is great! 10 stars!
I highly recommend them.
P.S. Unfortunately, my phone was completely out of battery so I regret not...
Read moreThe restaurant s tucked into a strip mall, which is not my ideal location for a restaurant, but the food is pretty good. I went with a large group and they were very accommodating. The service was top notch, and the food was good- not the best Thai I’ve had, but it was up there. The reason it gets 3 stars and not more, is the decor. If i am spending money to eat out, I want my experience to be amazing- I want a nice atmosphere, clean bathrooms, etc. They could use a serious redo of the inside. The tables and chairs are underwhelming, and I can’t even remember what was on the walls- just a couple things here and there. They have the place divided in two parts, and there is a small bar at the back of one section. The layout is awkward and it is not very inviting. The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired as well- they are cold and outdated. Again, the food was good, and I would prefer this place more as a take-out place. The staff was incredible, and our server could not have been nicer, also giving us separate checks for our group. The food was good- and if they redecorated or redesigned the interior, I would go back. For now, I only go when others want to go...
