This was the most horrifying experience and hopefully this review will spare others the trouble. I needed a hotel room for one evening for myself and teenage daughter as we were going to be in Buffalo for an evening UB event for my oldest daughter who’s a student there. My husband had booked a room for us at the Days Inn due to it’s close proximity to the campus as we’d be in a time crunch between travel time and the scheduled event time. We arrived at the hotel after 6pm and checked in. From first glance at the property I had a weird vibe about the place but wasn’t overly concerned without even seeing our actual room at that point. I was given the key card to our room and parked in front of the building so we could carry our things up. The parking lot was dimly lit and there were a few people hanging out at the time. I immediately noticed several room doors were wide open with the lights off inside which was strange. One of those rooms had a completely shattered window with broken glass scattered on the walkway going to our room. It looked like someone had thrown the likes of a brick through it or something. We opened the door to our room and immediately hit with an overwhelming stench. I couldn’t even describe it accurately…at the time I thought maybe a combination of vomit, feet, urine, some sort of decay…? That still didn’t accurately summarize whatever it was…a rotting corpse would probably be a far closer description. We were so pressed for time but I was beside myself looking around the room in absolute shock. The beds were filthy. My daughter put her hand on the bedding and said it was “damp.” She went to wash her hands immediately and the sink filled with water as it was apparently clogged. There was built up dirt everywhere. The “Hello Sunshine” decorative bedding pieces shown in the photo were stained with what appeared to be bodily fluids and tattered with wear. The bathroom door looked like someone was frantically clawing at it and there were flies in the bathroom area. I’ve just never seen anything like it and could not imagine staying there. We had minutes to spare before the event so we had to get back on the road. The event didn’t finish until around midnight so as soon as I had a chance to find another hotel I booked a room. Upon getting back to the Days Inn to checkout there were more vehicles and people blasting loud music from the parking lot. This was around 12:30am. I pulled in front of the office and the door was locked. The guy behind the counter finally unlocked the door from a button behind the desk and I told him I was checking out as the conditions were terrible. He said “ok” and took the card. I couldn’t believe there were no apologies or follow up questions about our experience..:nothing. The fact that we drove back there just to properly checkout and they didn’t even offer so much as an apology was ridiculous. My husband contacted Expedia to make a complaint about the conditions and the hotel denied we ever let them know we were leaving which was completely false. They have security cameras that would clearly show what happened and our receipts would prove that we checked out and checked in elsewhere. I wish we would have thoroughly looked at other reviews of customer experiences prior to going there. This place is disgusting between the unsanitary and unsafe conditions overall but along with that….they need to be held accountable. Stay far away. For the same price we got a great room at the Holiday Inn Express. Let me just say after the experience at Days Inn….walking into the other hotel was such a...
Read moreWhere do I even start? Well i booked for 2 nights this past labor day weekend at days inn buffalo. I hope this review helps anyone who is thinking of booking here, spend the extra money and book at ANY other hotel. As my parents and I walked into the lobby, I could immediately tell the hotel was nothing at all like the pictures shown online when I made the reservation. We got our key and walked over to the stairs passing a group of shady men who were sitting on the ground smoking a few feet away from our truck. Anyways, as soon as we walk into our room on the second floor, the odor was so incredibly disgusting, kind of like cigarette mixed with something rotten. We also noticed there was no smoke detector, instead there was a hole in the wall with wires hanging out where the smoke detector was supposed to be. As we continued looking for the cause of the nasty odor, we found stains on both bed sheets resembling either urine or dried blood. I walked towards the bathroom and noticed the table top clothing rack which was supposed to be nailed to the wall was falling over and the nails were not nailed into the wall they were just nailed into the rack and hanging out. About 4 feet underneath on the same wall was a large hole, as if someone kicked the wall in or hit it with something. It seemed as if people had a fight in there and broke most of the things and they were never replaced. The plug on the hair dryer was broken which could be an electrocution hazard as well. We went on our phones to look up better hotels nearby, and suddenly my mother points out a roach coming out near the bathroom. We grabbed our belongings and left. I’ve never been one to complain, but i’ve never had such a terrible experience at a hotel, I expected much more from a Wyndham hotel and I’m disappointed to say the least. Very dirty and alot of safety hazards ! Not worth...
Read moreWe arrived at this property the evening of March 19, with a reservation in hand. Although it was the third day of spring, the outdoor temp was a chilly 19F. The temperature in the room was frigid: 60F, if that. The heat in the room was off, and clearly had been for a long time. The thermostat on the wall was cranked up to 80 (no doubt by the last guest), but the baseboard heaters were stone cold. As were the sheets, the pillows, the mattress, and everything else in the room. The bathroom floor was like ice. ||Eventually we learned that the baseboard heating system (hot water) was no longer functioning due to leaks in the pipes. Heat came from a wall-mounted unit that looked like an air conditioner. Once turned on, it noisily produced a weak flow of tepid air. It took hours (well after midnight) before the room was up to barely-tolerable temperature. There was but a single flimsy blanket on the bed. We went to bed wearing our pajamas, plus a sweater and a dress shirt on top. We shivered through the night.||Across most of America, rooms in hotels and motels are supposed to be equipped with smoke detectors. Not at this Days Inn. Where there should have been a detector, there were a couple of wires dangling from the ceiling. What a safety hazard.||When we departed in the morning, I politely suggested to the manager that they should turn on the heat in rooms for guests who are expected (IE, those with reservations). He shrugged his shoulders and said they routinely turn the heat off once winter is over. Nary an apology.||Without question, it was one of our worst hotel/motel experiences. Never again will we stay at a Days Inn (or other...
