4 stars mostly for location & staff- the view is fantastic, & the photos don't do it justice- you are literally sitting right on top of the water. There is outdoor seating, and it seems very clean & well-designed inside. Such a nice spot! The staff was friendly & service was fast, and the drink portion size was huge! Okay, so now for the cons - the mocha coffee tasted like chocolate milk, not a hint of coffee, (almost like chocolate cereal milk, if that makes sense?) - it was drinkable, but not great. The everything bagel was small, and very salty & bready - not chewy like a NY-style bagel. I asked for some bagels without toppings to take for the next day, & the staff seemed confused by this but finally gave me a few bagels. These were cold & small - I am assuming not fresh, maybe refridged or frozen. The menu seemed pretty extensive, but I don't think I'd order food here again - maybe I would try hot plain coffee just to enjoy the view. My advice to the owner here, would be to keep things fresh/ local/ quality, especially if keeping prices this high- I drove pretty far but I would have def. been a repeat customer if the food & drinks were better.
Edit : I have been back a few times, and had some of their other food / drinks. I was really impressed! Especially by the food, but my last drink orders were much much better than that first visit.. maybe because it seems to be different staff now ?staff has been very friendly . I wouldn't order their bagels, but for the other food choices highly...
Read moreThis place smells terrible. The minute you open the door, you can smell a collection of kitchen smells. If you stay more than 20 seconds inside, your clothes will be impregnated by the odor, and will require a wash with vinegar to get the smell out. (Their customers may have lost their sense of smell to COVID-19?)
This place does not know how to manage their point-of-sale system: We bought a pair of socks that we wanted to return, and despite having the receipt, transaction number, etc., they could not "find the transaction" and had to refund in cash.
This place is crawling with yellow jackets. I happen to love wasps, so I am not bothered by them, but I could imagine others would be. I saw traps placed ineffectively. It is easy to plant some herbs that naturally repel yellow jackets and prevent them from intruding.
Overall this place is coasting on its (gorgeous) view.
But you know what? If you read through this and you don't think I am being difficult (which means you are sensitive to smell too), then the good news is that the coffee shop two shops down, "2 Queens Coffee", is amazing — it's everything this place is not!! Quiet, smell-free, delicious, and it also has a gorgeous view.
If you want a full-blown meal, "The Laundrette" also provides a quiet, smell-free, delicious option with a gorgeous view.
This Tusten Cup needs to do a bit of work, like, buy air purifiers for inside, install venting system in your kitchen, plant mint and peppermint and other perennials that...
Read moreFood was great, coffee…not so much. I ordered an americano. The first tip off was that it was served in a 20oz cup full to the brim. It tasted like a watery flavored coffee from the early 90’s when hazelnut and French vanilla flavored coffee was all the rage. I asked the barista if they had maybe placed the wrong beans (ie flavored!) in their espresso grinder. She showed me a canister of Illy espresso beans…which this definitely was NOT. I tried ordering an espresso to see if I could beef up the flavor- it was not an espresso bean- definitely vanilla flavored coffee! Eventually after some conversation I was able to trade a full americano and full espresso (I could only stand a sip of each) for a cup of regular drip coffee which was also watery but thankfully unflavored. My egg and cheese sandwich was awesome. The staff was kind but woefully unknowledgeable about coffee and treated me a bit as if I was the one who didn’t know…which was frustrating. I haven’t found any good coffee up here except in Milford PA at Better World. Their americano was...
