Beware when using your debit/credit card!!!

Recently, I ordered food for my family here as I've done so many times in the past. Sometimes we pay with cash, and sometimes we pay with credit/debit. We have never had any problems. When you pay with your debit/credit card and the order is over $15 you don't get charged a surcharge fee. Well the last time I went in there, I ordered and my food way over $15, so I paid with my debit/credit card and had to sign (as usual). When he gave me the receipt I looked over it really quicky and I saw the tip line. But before I could cross it out, he told me to sign below and as soon as I did, he took the receipt right away. A few days later the food order posted on my bank account and it was two separate charges. One was for my food amount, and the other was a $1.00 credit charge fee. I was not supposed to be charged for using my card because my order was over the $15 amount, this was the first time I've ever seen this $1.00 fee on my statement from this establishment. Then I remembered I, didn't cross out the tip line and left it blank so they put the $1.00 as a tip for themselves. All the previous times when my family and I used our cards at this place we always cross out the tip line. The one time I didn't, I get a charge that was not supposed to be there. We have spent so much money at this Chinese restaurant and I would never have thought they would commit a dishonest act. If a customer decides to use credit/debit here and your order is over $15, make sure you cross out the tip line or they will happily...

CHINA STAR HAS GONE DOWNHILL AND OWNER IS VERY DISHONEST!!?

IT IS RARE THAT I LEAVE RESTAURANT REVIEWS ONLINE, BUT I FEEL THAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON AT THIS RESTAURANT... BESIDES THE FOOD NOT TASTING GREAT ANYMORE!

OWNER HAS CHARGED ME, OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND EVEN STRANGERS MORE MONEY THAN WHAT THE FOOD COSTS!

PLEASE KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR FOOD SHOULD COST YOU WHEN YOU PICK IT UP!

HE HAS CHARGED PEOPLE UP TO 8 MORE DOLLARS!

I HAVE EVEN SEEN THIS MAN CHARGE PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME MORE MONEY THAN HE SHOULD AND THEY DO NOT REALIZE IT!

IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO SOMEBODY I KNOW! HE WAS CHARGED MORE MONEY AND WHEN HE QUESTIONED THE OWNER, HE SAID HE "GAVE" HIM AN EXTRA EGG ROLL (HE ORDERED ONLY 1).

THEN, WHAT THE OWNER DID WAS REACH INTO THE BAG TAKE OUT THE ONLY EGG ROLL IN THE BAG AND THEN PUT IT BACK IN!!!! HE DID THIS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE HE WAS REMOVING AN EGG ROLL....THERE NEVER WAS AN EXTRA EGG ROLL IN THE BAG! (ALL THIS WAS WITNESSED BY HIM AND OTHER PATRONS) AND ONLY WHEN THE OWNER WAS QUESTIONED HE ADJUSTED THE BILL!

ALSO, AFTER ANY BAD REVIEW IS POSTED, A FEW MINUTES LATER A GOOD REVIEW IS...

This business has changed hands and it's no longer great takeout.

Food costs have gone up so it's reasonable to have increases in menu prices. But their prices are not on par with other Chinese takeouts in the area. Especially because the quality went down a lot and the taste is just ok.

The previous owners were great with their customer service, but now it's about what you'd expect from a Chinese takeout. They consistently get something wrong, from missing part of the order, to ignoring requests to omit something(carrots). If you wait for your food to be made, it's very likely to see them respond to customer issues with either skepticism or outright belligerence. Especially over low cost items.
