We had reasonable expectations and very few were met. Atmosphere- lovely, very cozy Staff- confused, the servers timing was so off and multiple opportunities to redeem went even worse. More detail below Food: Burrata- burrata was delicious and creamy, the vinaigrette on the greens was divine. It was odd that it's only server with 2 small slices of bread given the cost/size Prosciutto and mozzarella logs- good Mussels- presentation was nice, taste was fine. Was lacking brightness Focaccia- we ordered but we're not charged however the odd thing was a small Italian baguette was brought to the table and constantly referred to as focaccia which it was clearly not Frutti De mare- squid ink pasta was fine, sauce was lacking, the 5 pieces of seafood were fine, a little overcooked Lasagna- almost inedible with the amount of not cooked pasta. Sauce tasted rushed as if the flavor didn't have time to develop Cacio e pepper- again fine but lacked freshness and lightness, also didn't love that it was made with fettuccine noodles Drinks: Cocktails we're watery except one person who had a margarita and enjoyed it
Services oddities- Timing- there were big gaps of time and no explanation, example we ordered drinks and it was 10+ minutes before they arrived. They acknowledged not making 1 drink as requested but brought it and asked us to try and they would replace it with something else- tasted and requested a glass of wine
Cockroach- the owner I believe was giving slices of meat which was delicious however we saw a cockroach crawling on the paper that the meat was wrapped in. We quietly brought it to the owners attention and he acted very confused as to where it came from and took that meat to the back.
Wine- we ordered a bottle of wine and when our check came the bottle was 50 more then it was listed for on the menu. We brought this to our server attention, she disappeared for awhile, owner came and apologized saying they just printed the menu today, server returns with the wine at the same price and said the owner told her we were ok with paying the $50 increase which we did NOT agree to. Check went back and forth at least 4 times before being corrected.
Overall will not return and sad as the ambiance was nice and...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try this place out since it opened, hoping to support the new owners. We didn’t have a reservation, but as soon as we walked in the owner seemed very friendly and accommodating, and assured us we would be seated in 15 minutes. No problem, we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender was uncomfortably rude to the staff, and acted like she was the supreme being at the place. But it was only for a drink so it was tolerable. The place seemed a little chaotic, but we were more than willing to give it the benefit of the doubt since they recently opened. Wish I could tell you it got better as the night went on but sadly it went down hill, and not fast, like a slow painful death. The wine was warm, overpriced, and not enjoyable. It took an hour to get out appetizers, which was blah (the burrata). And it took another hour to get the entrees. My husband’s lasagna looked sloppy, but he tried it and said it was ok, he would eat it. At this point we were starving. I ordered the cheese fettuccine, but got the bolognese. I told the waiter, to which he apologized so I said no problem I will eat it. As much as I tried to be a good sport, the pasta was cold. I also ordered the chicken formaggio. Well it was raw, inedible. That’s where I drew the line. So I asked for the check and I was told they would take off the food that was raw from the bill. That was just unacceptable. We were there for over 2 hours, I didn’t eat, and all they offered was to remove my entree. So I took the check and walked up to the counter to speak to the owner. He asked me if I ordered a replacement since my food was raw. I said with all due respect I don’t feel comfortable eating here after I was fed raw chicken. We went back and forth and he finally canceled our bill. What a disappointment. And waist of time. We barely get a night away from the kids, and when we do all we want is good, eatable food. Never...
Read moreLast night was my second and last time at 100 Main. Friends had taken me for my birthday in April. We were anxious to try the new ownership of the former Viviano's, which had been a reliable, enjoyable venue for years. Unfortunately, all of us were quite disappointed with both all four appetizers as well as the entrees. At one point on that former occasion, the new owner came around and started raving about their Italy-style pizza, saying we must return to try it. Well, last evening we did. Their pizza was overpriced (two small, personal pizzas at $24 and $26), not very flavorful, and the crust was tough and hard to cut, at least with the restaurant's cheap silverware We also ordered two Caesar salads to share fourways beforehand. They were minuscule despite being pricey ($14 each), and my nephew found a hair in his. The waiting staff seemed a bit inept, though fairly pleasant. However, five minutes after our young waitress had taken our entire order, a middle aged woman (perhaps hostess, though she hadn't been around when we entered) came around and broke into our conversation to "tell us about the specials." When she learned we'd already ordered, she asked which specific pizzas we'd ordered, then proceeded to tell us which OTHER choice of pizza we SHOULD have ordered. The young ineptitude of the staff concluded the meal as well, when no one thanked us for our patronage (or in light of our 20% tip) nor troubled to say goodbye. Perhaps this can be chalked up to general inexperience, since we were one of only two tables being served between 7:15 and 8:15. I will say that it was appreciated that there was no charge for the two seltzers we ordered; however, the $14 for four mouthfuls of wine, dwarfed ridiculously by the huge wine glass in which it was served, more than balanced...
