Nov 19 we went here for a ladies night out it was disappointing. The food was subpar. Chicken empanada’s were tasty yet lacked moisture a bit dry, the shrimp empanadas immediately activated my acid reflux I think it was the red sauce, I only had one and it was a disaster. I ordered a side of mixed veggies equally disappointing tasteless and too chewy I returned those. We ended with lemon sorbet which was slightly over frozen. The restaurant was pretty empty for a saturday night. We were looking forward to the live music. The DJ has potential however it wasn’t displayed last night. What he does well is play music to cater to the diverse csr base. He played alittle latin, r&b and maybe some other genre of music. We liked that he played some oldies but goodies. The problem is his playlist is severely, acutely and painfully outdated. The csrs were dancing some, you could see they wanted to dance more but the music selections were so bad. We wanted to stay longer but the music was so incredibly painful snd making us sleepy so we left. Management either coach the dj to improve or invest in replacing him. Your menu can stand to be reimagined for improvement. Over all the service was good, the restaurant appeared cleaned and well maintained. This place could be a hot spot for mature customers seeking good food, drinks and enjoyable music. People enjoy music and dancing you need to bring it and step up! We agreed to give it another try so we will be back and hopefully some of the suggestions were implemented.

This restaurant is dark but looks very beautiful inside. There is a lot of parking outside and outdoor seating options. We came in on a Sunday around 4pm and it was empty, we were seated quickly and the staff was very responsive and respectful. My husband had paella which he was not impressed with and took home, although the presentation was very nice and gave that authentic feel. I had the pernil with white rice and habichuelas. Considering I am Puerto Rican and make this food at home, I know my rice and beans are very much better than this, as there was no taste at all. I did however have a very large portion of meat! Usually you get a lot of rice and no meat, but I was initially so impressed that half of my plate was covered in pernil! I was also surprised that the meal did not come with an "extra" side like most restaurants do, like a maduro or salad; it is the first Spanish restaurant I have been to that did not. Honestly, I probably won't come again since the food was expensive for the small amount of rice and beans, and the lack of flavor in everything. But I am glad I came and tried them and the place is beautiful. I wish them well and I hope that they season their food a little bit and show Warwick what amazing food Puerto Rican cuisine really is.

We started the meal by ordering a pastel for an appetizer and it was underwhelming. The consistency was not right, grainy, almost like grits, but not as soupy and it lacked flavor. We also ordered 2 homemade lemonades that we noticed, later, were billed at $6 each! They were definitely not worth it at $6, or even less, as they tasted more like water than lemonade. We could, hopefully, only go up from here. It did! For our entrees we ordered Lobster Mofongo & Asopao de Res. The mofongo had a good balance of flavors without being overpowered by too much garlic, as some tend to do in their preparation of mofongo. It also had a good amount of lobster pieces in it and came with a sofrito flavored sauce for dipping or pouring. The beef asopao was also tasty and presented and served in a caldero. The entrees came with small side salads that were sprinkled with coconut, but we did not care much for the coconut. It wasn't needed, in our opinion, and felt out of place. We finished our meal by having Tres Leches and Caramel Flan for dessert. Both were good and the tres leches had a hint of rum in it, just enough for you to know it was there, but not overpowering to the overall flavor profile. Overall I do recommend Coquito and I would go back myself.

This review is written for the poor service and the extremely rude manager we experienced. Coquito is a place that my girlfriend and I truly enjoyed going to, as the food was usually delicious and the atmosphere and bar staff accommodating and professional. However, last night after reserving a table for 8, we experienced wait staff who continued to forget things, food that we normally love cooked terribly and were ultimately disrespected by the manager at the end of the night.

The night started off as we asked for a separate check for our group of four, while we waited for the others to arrive. Some appetizers we ordered did not come out as the waitress forgot to put them in and when the entrees came out, things were undercooked and not at all cooked like we’ve experienced before. Aside from that, the entertainment was wonderful and we had such a great time dancing. The real problem that absolutely ruined the end of a great night was when there was a confusion with our separate checks. After explaining to our waitress that our separate check only purchased 4 empanadas and the other 5 empanadas belonged to our friends, she willingly changed the check. However it was still wrong, as we were still charged for an extra empanada and were being charged the tax and automatic gratuity that was on the old check. After calling over the waitress and manager who was a tall older man with gray hair, so much time was spent using cell phone calculators trying to show them the error in the math, which was just removing the extra empanada, and adjusting tax and tip change. We wasted 30 MINUTES of our time. Simply put, we were trying to correct a waitresses mistake and not PAY FOR THINGS WE DID NOT ORDER. We were not once apologized to by the rude manager, as he was defensive the entire time. When we exclaimed that we did not feel we should pay 18 % gratuity because we wasted 30 minutes trying to correct a problem HIS STAFF created and essentially killed the entire mood, my girlfriend was told “well if he wasn’t so adamant about the wrong check you wouldn’t have wasted 30 minutes”. How dare you treat your customers like this and expect to stay in business? If you think that overcharging a customer is the customer’s fault and something they should not be adamant about, you should NEVER EVER work in the service industry. Three of us come from families who own their own businesses and we would never disrespect customers the way your manager disrespected us. Unfortunately, your manager ruined the entire evening and left us upset, feeling like we were the ones who did something wrong. It’s a shame to see such a great establishment suffer a customer loss due to extremely...

1st Impression: It is my hope that Valentino, the owner, really considered removing the woman he had covering the front door and serving yesterday. We had a party of 8 and spent well over $600, which wasn't worth the price. Some dishes were satisfying, but in terms of authentic PR food with the exception of the mofongo and rice and beans it doesn't pass 100%.

Staff: Getting back to the person that semi greeted me when I arrived. 1. She was unaware of my reservation which I placed with Jessica and confirmed the night before again with Jessica. She seemed bothered that I entered the restaurant. She set up the tables as I was literally the only one there in front of me with an attitude. 2. As I sat waiting for my companions to arrive she didn't offer me water or ask if I needed anything. 3. She treated my guests who came from an hour away rudely. 4. She, who I heard talking in Spanish to an employee, then asked me to speak to her in English only. This is extremely inappropriate. I have every right to choose the language of my choice as a bilingual woman and was appalled by her audacity. 5. When we asked to be billed individually they angrily said that we should've told them at the beginning. We decided to figure it out on our own because we understood it can be a task for some, but was it necessary to be nasty about it? 5. She then tried to tell me that she doesn't speak Spanish as I continued to speak my native language. She's a rude liar because when I ordered in Spanish she brought me exactly what I asked for without anyone translating. Nice try! Wow, I've never seen a fellow Latina be so livid over someone speaking Spanish. You do realize it's a Spanish menu and you serve Spanish food? Therefore if someone says arroz con gandules instead of rice and beans or con cuanto viene instead how many does it come with...take it easy! Besides, shouldn't your staff know the dishes they serve in Spanish and English?

Result: My companions and I travel to restaurants on a rotating basis all over Orange and Sullivan Counties month to month. Needless to say Coquito is off our traveling colleagues list! You don't deserve an annual visit from us unless Valentino does the right thing be that customer service training, multicultural training, or perhaps replacing front staff and waitresses. All options would be fair in my opinion. Valentino, I have your contact number. We can chat if you'd like.

Suggestions: Oh and the tres leches left something to be desired, the silverware needs to be updated, the plastic water pitchers are unsightly and the bathrooms really need to be renovated considering the...

My friend and I were at the restaurant last night and I have to say I was very disappointed when we ordered our drinks we had a different server than we originally had when we were seated which was no problem at all she was very pleasant and she took her drink order and about 10 minutes later the drinks finally came and we were sitting at a booth right by the bar so I saw the bartender wasn’t very busy so I don’t understand why there was such a long wait for our drinks but once my drink arrived I noticed that there was a long dark black hair on the ice we waited another 10 minutes until the waitress came back over to check on us and when she finally did I showed her the hair in the drink and she said no problem I will have the bartender make you another drink and took it away, I watched the bartender chitchat with other other employees and laugh when my drink was brought back over to her then had to wait another 15 minutes now to get the drink that I originally ordered and now when it was brought to me i noticed it looked like a completely different drink than the first one that I have received with the hair in it and it tasted awful so I asked the waitress do you know why the drink looks completely different it’s a different color it’s totally different and she said it’s because the bartender doesn’t know how to make drinks that well and they hire a lot of people so she said she’ll make me a new drink because she has made drinks behind the bar and is familiar with everything so I said OK no problem so now I had to wait longer for her to be able to make the drink after she checks on / brings food to her other customers at this point the appetizers had already come out, the salads came out and dinner was about to be brought out......... once she brought over the drink she made it was great, would I recommend the restaurant to any of our friends or family ? Absolutely not, with everything going on with covid we are completely understanding of staff being backed up and having to wait but this experience is one I find completely unacceptable from the hair in the drink to the nasty attitude the bartender had, to the entrees just being cold I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone it was definitely not with the $250 we spent there. (No they didn’t even take the drink...
