I normally do not take the time to write a review but after reading past reviews I felt compelled to share my experience last night when I arrived I noticed 2 of our party were at the bar so I joined them as they were patiently waiting to be served. They told me that they were waiting for five minutes. Another 10 minutes had gone by and I finally asked the two bartenders who were talking to each other at the inside corner of the bar when they were coming over. I said we were waiting fifteen minutes. One of the motioned to be patient. I couldnāt believe it. I have never had this experience before and was so overwhelmed which I believe set the mood for the night. Finally after taking another couples drink orders, she took ours, 25 minutes total. Do you think this is acceptable? I had come to find out that it was her first night and that she basically was lost. Training? We finally left the bar and was told to go down the front hallway when one of our group asked where we were seated? The waitresses said the group was upstairs and we asked what group and told her we were a group of eight. She asked what the name was and one of our group told her and it appeared that we were not in the book. But then she said she found it and that we had to wait while they set up the tables. Obviously you were not prepared for us. Planning? We finally were seated and Jordan was our waitress. She was very pleasant and really tried to keep us satisfied. We received our salad and shortly after that our dinners. However, while this was going on you were setting up a table for 26 people adjacent to us. Needless to say, after just receiving our food we couldnāt hear ourselves talk to each other. We had to either repeat everything we said or we had to scream. It is obvious that this was not thought out. Planning? I also have mention that where were located was so cold we had to ask 3 times to just shut the fan so it could warm up a little. The girls were wearing either their jackets or sweaters to try to remain warm. Finally, with regard to our dinners. It seems that everyone was satisfied with their meals; however, my dinner was not as requested. I requested from the menu breaded haddock, what I received was as Jordan told me baked haddock. One of the other gentlemen said to her he ordered breaded and she said baked. And left the table leaving me wondering if she was going to bring what I had requested. Another 10 minutes went by and I finally had to catch her at the bar and ask if she had placed a new order. No, she hadnāt. I told her I needed what I ordered and I also told her that I would like extra lemon and tarter sauce with the fish. Another ten minutes and one of the other waitresses brought me my meal with one slice of lemon and one tarter sauce. At this point I had lost my appetite and boxed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went Wednesday and got amazing service albeit it was right at opening at 3pm. My food was ice cold while my husband's was hot. It didn't make any sense considering I ordered a calzone. Regardless, my husband wanted to come back so we did. We came back and I decided to retry and order something new. The waitresses were standing around. Nothing was happening. Since it took forever to get a drink or to even order food, I felt discouraged. Lo and behold I put the food order in at 6:45. I had to ask about it at 8pm. Apparently it came out, but not to us. They had to remake it and when it came out it was more disappointment. I ordered an Up the North burger. It had a total of 4 French fries on it and a drizzle of cheese. My husband got (I apologize I don't remember the name) and his entire plate including fries was covered in BBQ sauce, cold BBQ sauce. It felt like only the burgers were recorded. While everything else was just sitting around waiting to be slapped together to make food. Sad thing is, I drank more than I ate. I left most of the food there because it was cold and disgusting.
Note: the first time we went, there was one bartender, Sierra, sweetest girl. The second time there was four, Sierra Jordan and two others. Jordan was our waitress. She tried but was slow and didn't make drinks right, I figured she was new so it didn't bother me. One bartender though really did nothing. It was kinda easy to notice because we sat at the bar and watched her (she rarely left the bar being right in front of us but faced away). She would comment on the other bartenders, fill a drink or two, or just blatantly be on her phone. It was crazy considering how many people came to the counter due to lack of service. I went there at 6 and left at 9. Disappointed because I didn't stay that long by choice. Cold food....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start by saying Iāve been wanting to try this place for months because I love independent restaurants. The atmosphere is great, but that alone is not enough reason to go back. I really wish the food was deserving of the building and atmosphere. The restaurant cleanliness was excellent. The entree presentation was very good. The only thing that that looked off was the fried haddock.
The underlying theme for all of the food was unseasoned or underseasoned which resulted in the food being basically flavorless. The pulled pork sandwich was by far the best entree and it was just okay. The best thing we ate all night were the salads! The dressings were very good.
The fish tacos⦠I love fish tacos because they are a fairly simple meal and are often best when the dish is not too complex. The description of them being on hard taco shells sounded a bit different but I decided to give them a try. When they arrived at the table they looked great! When I tasted them neither the chutney nor the fish had any flavor. The chutney needed something sweet and the fish seemed to have been grilled without seasoning or salt at all. (Or if it was I couldnāt taste it).
My wife had grilled mahi-mahi with chutney also and a side of roasted red potatoes. Her fish and chutney were similarly flavorless and the roasted red potatoes seemed to be seasoned only by the oil bath they were swimming in.
My daughter had fried haddock and it was flavorless and overcooked.
My sons pulled pork sandwich tasted like it was made in a crockpot. There wasnāt even the hint of wood flavoring to the meat.
The homemade French fries were also absent any seasoning. Salt, season salt, garlic or something would have saved these fries but they were...
