Izla — Restaurant in Town of Yorktown

New to the area and was looking for a Caridad or El Valle and came across this place on the net. Since I'm 100% Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 I was ecstatic to find this place that claims to have authentic home style Puerto Rican food. I don't know what home or part of Puerto Rico style food they think they are cooking because this place is anything but authentic, it's not even Spanish flavored food. Everything is bland. Do they even use sofrito which we real Puerto Ricans know is the base to our food hand in hand with love. The cooks are Mexican the front end is a caucasian male and the manager/ owner claims to be Puerto Rican but says he was born and raised in N.Y. Sorry buddy but at best that makes you Nuyorican which would be fine to a point if you had our culture instilled in you, which quite obviously you do not. Maybe the food would be good if you spent some time learning the culture and true Puerto Rican way of cooking then teaching that to your cooks. Your obviously more concerned about spending time in the gym than you are about living up to what we real Puerto Ricans call authentic. Please don't anyone who's eaten at this place think this is Puerto Rican food because it is as far from authentic as you can...

Visited the new Fishkill location. Food was good, customer service needs to improve. First of all, the young blonde girl who was at the counter had an uncomforting attitude problem. She had absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of the menu besides the names. For every question I asked, she had to turn to another girl behind the counter and get an answer from her. She also seemed to be annoyed that i had any questions at all. I have never been and knew nothing about the menu and was just looking for some guidance. Not only did she not know a thing about the menu, but she refused to even attempt to pronounce the foods. I understand it isnt a requirement to be Hispanic to work there, but becoming knowledgeable of the food should be. When I went to give her my card to pay I placed it on the counter. She thru it back at me and said “NO PUT IT IN THERE” (into the card slot of the register). Beyond rude. Food was great as I said but not worth the eyerolling and attitude...

BEWARE: DISAPPOINTING FOOD QUALITY & HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! My family and I have ordered from here before and despite having a few mishaps with our food before, we decided to give them another try. This last time we ordered carne guisado and 9oz bistec encebollado. The carne guisado was served over rice in the same tray and a heavy abundance of grease (perhaps the stew) was added to the tray making the dish a greasy/soupy mess. It looked and tasted disgusted! And we were also shorted on the bistec order. I was nowhere near 9oz. We've ordered this several times before and have been able to feed 2 adults but this time it was barely enough to feed one person. When we called the restaurant to express our disappointment, the manager was not receptive to what our complaints were, gave us a ton of attitude, and had the audacity to argue with us about our complaints....
