My wife and I love this place and the original one in Mahopac. The food is always amazing. We love the ribeye Contadina. I was a little disappointed this time because our waiter messed up my order and then came out twice to speak to the tables next to us but just ignored me and didn't come over and apologize or anything. So when he finally brought me the correct food he says a fast sorry and like ran off. It wasn't a real apology. Anyway we thought our bus boy was excellent. He was very attentive all night long to the point that I even gave him an extra tip on the side. What's up Benvenuto? You need to promote him to waiter. He was definitely better than the other guy. The other thing that bugged us was how many of the employees in Benvenuto were either not wearing masks or taking them off or not wearing them over there noses. That really stressed my wife out while we were eating because we have no idea whether the people in the kitchen are covering their noses and mouths or not. Ironically almost all of the customers were following the protocols and wearing their masks. I only saw them let in two people who weren't wearing masks the whole time we were there which was two and a half hours. But damn, this is a food establishment and its just super stressful during a pandemic to not see all the employees covered up 100% And not letting customers in that aren't wearing masks either. We saw some older kind of tall white guy go in and out three times with no mask on at all. I got the impression he was the owner or works there in some capacity. But God if that's the owner and he's not wearing a mask what kind of message would that send? So I don't know who he was but they freely let him come and go with no mask which is ridiculous. We started with the eggplant rollatini appetizer, which was delicious. I had the chicken francaise, and my husband ordered one of the specials—a pork chop topped with cherry peppers, artichokes, and melted mozzarella. Both dishes were incredible, bursting with flavor. We also shared the risotto of the day, which was a bacon and artichoke risotto, and it did not disappoint.
Even though we were full, we couldn’t resist splitting the tiramisu for dessert, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. My husband had a decaf cappuccino that was also excellent.
The service was top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu. He gave great recommendations and was confident in the quality of the food, which made us feel assured about our choices. I wish I had gotten his name because he truly enhanced our experience.
