A few weeks ago, my Mom and a friend wanted to attend a memorial service out in Tracy (we live in Oakland) and they needed a ride. I agreed but didn't wish to attend the service so I needed to find something to do to pass the time. Food is always a good option and I found Huckleberry's on Yelp.
The food looked really good so I thought I'd give it a go- it was not disappointing at all! From the outside, it gives me a Cracker Barrel kind of vibe due to the decor. Once inside, I was seated right away and my server came over immediately to get me started. I wish I remembered his name- he was really sweet and kept checking on me.
I usually don't like sweet drinks but I ordered the Sweet Peach Tea which came in a mason jar- the rim laced with sugar and the tea itself came with fresh peaches. LOTS OF THEM! Oh my- and the great part was they gave me a cup to go as I couldn't finish all of it.
I ended up ordering the catfish po'boy -another great choice! The portion size was BIG-BIG..It came on a sourdough roll with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles (yum) and a spicy aioli. On the first bite, you could hear the crunch from the fish and it was so flavorful. I will say I ended up deconstructing the sandwich- the roll started to get soggy between the aioli and the lettuce but I didn't care. It was that good. The fries were nice and crispy (I asked for crispy) and seasoned so well I didn't even have to salt them. And I like my salt!
I see that there are locations closer to me which makes me happy cause I'm definitely going back. I think I want to try the fried green tomatoes and a breakfast skillet. Price point was good- I think I paid about $25 with...
Read moreBeen a favorite spot since they opened, but the holiday weekend was quite rough, to say the least. Arrived and Sat for 5 to 7 min with No service because our server was busy, understandable. Then to have our server walk by and say I'll be with you in a minute then have him load & serve 2 trays of drinks to the table next to us, then make his rounds to his already served tables, then finally to us was too much, finally got a chance to order and food took 25 min for 2 chicken strips & breakfast. Then our food arrives with only 2 entrees and had to wait another 5 min for the 3rd entree????? So by the time my sons food came our food was cold, so I got a Togo box and didn't eat more than 3 bites
**All this while a large family was letting their kids walk around on the booth and bumped into the back of my son (twice) while screaming as he was trying to climb over his Dad I assumed to get out. Mad house it was a holiday weekend, but empower your staff or management needs to speak up when parents won't control their children. The table was bothering @ least 6 other tables, and no one said a word. It's sad we couldn't enjoy a meal because the staff/manager can't control their restaurant.
P.S. Move the bus tubs away from the dining room or teach your servers/bussers to bend their knees when dropping off plates. The loud crashing sound is unnecessary and unwanted. Unlikely to return & that's unfortunate considering the lack of decent breakfast &...
Read moreShout out to Hostess Jada and Server Alisha!!
This is my mother and my first time here at this restaurant. We were looking at places to eat right at about 11:00 a.m. when the rest of Tracy's restaurant scene wakes up, my mother was very hungry though after we spent some time at Kaiser so he wanted to find some place. I was already open and already in business. We saw on Google maps that Huckleberry was open and we had never been there though it's very close to our house so we decided to check it out. The moment we walked in we were treated to Jada being an absolute angel. She entered all of my mother's questions and was seated in a pretty cool spot. Then Alisha answered the other million questions my mother had and we had an amazing breakfast. I'm not actually sure we talked at all during our breakfast which really says how good the food was. My mother is pretty picky, but she even had no words to say which means the food...
