Caffeine with a post office vibe.
Having visited the Eli’s in Metamora and Morton, it was a matter of time that I would drop in on the Tremont location. Emily and I dropped in around 10am to a pretty busy cafe.
The baristas were super friendly and patient while we placed our orders. I got my usual americano with a monster cookie and Emily got their Campfire Cold Brew and lemon poppyseed jumbo muffin. We looked around for a place to sit and were lucky to get seats next to each other. This place isn’t big so a few people can fill it up pretty quick. I think this used to be a post office and it definitely has the vibes of one, if it was.
It took a bit longer, about 15 minutes, for our coffees to be ready. We were ready to sit and chill so the wait wasn’t too bad but if you were in a rush, might be something to keep in mind. Any who, we had some delicious baked goods to keep us occupied until the drinks came out. I took a few sips of my americano and it unfortunately fell on the lighter side of how they can be made. While it was good, it was a bit light on the bitter that I like. Emily suggested I actually learn the style of americano I like and see if places can make it like that. But, Emily was also not the biggest fan of her drink, either. She wasn’t a fan of the syrup they used in it and didn’t like the aftertaste of it.
We hung out until we were about halfway done with our drinks and long after our baked goods were devoured. I really liked the vibe of the place and got a really cool sticker of the store front but it looks like a stamp! One of the cooler stickers I’ve gotten out on my adventures.
With there being three locations, I will no doubt drop in to another Eli’s at some point. When I do, I will have to try out their other coffee offerings and maybe some of their...
Read moreUPDATE, I'm giving this place five stars because they right their wrong so it's required for me to do the same. I have thought about it and soon I will try this place out again. They got back within record time and handled the wrong with the highest quality of customer service. My first time ordering from this place. The wait was 20 minutes. I ordered online so I couldn't leave. I spent 43 dollars and half of my order was missing. The window person gave me two chips for my two cookies and my fruit tray. Now, I don't work at this place but she took money from me. I mean you do the math on how much the vanilla bean cookies cost and the fruit tray. She gave me two bags of chips in place of those missing items because she didn't know how to put the money back on my card. Well, she stated that the system was down ok why not give me my money out of the register? She just thought it was OK that she didn't swap out with the correct exchanges for those missing items. Driving up to the window was tight if you have a huge truck. Please don't hit the furniture that's placed outside this tight drive-thru. My sandwich was burned but at least they...
Read moreI love this place! My recommendation would be to only use the mobile ordering if you are a busy person like I am. Most of the time there are so many people in there waiting in line plus people in the Drive-Thru. I never have to wait when I order on their app. Also their app gives nice offers here and there to get more points towards free stuff.
If I am not in a hurry and have time to sit, I truly enjoy finding a spot in the corner and curling up with something to read. They have the cozy coffee shop down pat!
The only thing that I don't like is they only offer whole or skim. Whole milk is too fattening and skim milk is not creamy enough. It would be nice if 2%...
