Fast service and a clean establishment. Pro tip: go with someone that speaks spanish because the staff speaks very little english. They have a large menu and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is run by Guatalmen people, but they serve all types of Latin American and Mexican specialites (tacos, flautas, platanos, ect). The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is cozy. Parking can be a problem because of the proximity to Hamilton Avenue and their parking lot is very narrow. I chose to park on the street and took a walk. Overall, this is authentic food with very generous portions. Each meal comes with complementry chips guacamole, beans, and hot sauce. Wasn't really impressed with this, but it was free so why complain. I ordered the molcajete which basically was a giant bowl of grilled steak, shrimp, amd chicken. This came with sides of black beans, rice, salsa, salad, avocado, lime, and homemade tortillas. The tortillas were delicious. This meal was enough to share between two people and we still weren't able to finish all the meat. Everything was cooked well. Our server Yari was very attentive and very fast. I would definitely...
Read moreI used to love this place, I live very close. I just got delivery a few minutes ago for what i always get. Churrasco de la pechuga asada. This isn't the only place i get this dish from but it's my favorite place to go. After getting delivery a couple times i tried asking for an extra slice of avocado. They used to not charge me much now they try to charge me $3 for a SLICE (not a half) --A SLICE of avocado. I don't know what world they live in where that's acceptable. The second and final reason I'm leaving the review is because today i ordered the EXACT same thing i always ordered and they decided they were gonna leave the avocado out of my meal ALTOGETHER. AND CHARGED ME THE SAME PRICE! AND DIDN'T LET ME KNOW THEY WERE OUT OF AVACADO! as you can imagine i got my food and was dissatisfied, so i called the place and was told i can't get any money back and they weren't going to make it right whatsoever. Im really shocked and will never give them my business again. Ill be sure to let everyone i know not to go here either cuz...
Read moreBut, that is not to say that this new Guatemaltecan meat house is not a very worthy successor. It certainly is. Where most Latino restaurants in and around the capital city are geared to feeding the neighborhood in a very down-country homey and comfortable dive (in a good way), La Parrilla has higher aspirations. It is a degree or two fancier than most other casas, and the focus is primarily on meat in all forms, as opposed to handling the desires of the larger populous. It offers 3 squares a day, like many others do, but does it in a somewhat more upscale environment. The HDTVs and air conditioning were all working well, so there was no need to feel like I was living in Central America in order to enjoy their cuisine (although, I admit to liking that authenticity by...
