Maria's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Trenton

I gave you 3 stars because I believe you guys really care and I want you to succeed as a restaurant, I am Mexican and of course that means wherever I go I have to grab some Mexican food at some point. There is a lot of competition down river and a lot of good restaurants, so you have to really bring it if you want to succeed. Today unfortunately wasn't what I expected, I understand it was Cinco de mayo and the chicken was probably being made in bulk to accommodate the amount of people in the building ordering but it didn't have any of the flavors you would expect, it was overwhelmingly salty, the chicken didn't have a hint of lime or taco seasoning and the shell was super salty. My street tacos were very bland as well, no hint of lime or anything typically a street taco is very flavorful. The one silver lining was my daughter really loved her quesadilla but that was the easy one its just chicken and cheese for her she is three years old. I came in earlier this week since me and my boyfriend were looking for a new restaurant for date night to try within walking distance of my house. Let me just tell you it was AMAZING!! we chose to eat inside and the atmosphere was so nice and homey our food was brought to us by the staff who even went above and beyond to grab us silverware upon asking because we didn’t see the area where you could come up and grab it yourself. We both ordered the nachos and we weren’t expecting a huge portion and were pleasantly surprised to see how large the plate was. Definitely worth every penny in my books! The chips tasted crunchy and freshly fried, the pico de gallo was very crisp, fresh, and flavorful and the chicken was top tier with a more than decent helping of cheese. My favorite Mexican place used to be Angelina’s in southgate but now that we have marias right here in the city of trenton and so close to my home I want plan to be a frequent customer!! Called order in at 6:50pm. They told me 20 min. Got there at 7pm and paid. Girl told me they’d call my name when it was ready. At 7:25 they finally call my name. That’s when I realized my order had been done for awhile and the girl didn’t realize I was there waiting. At first they were going to remake the tacos cuz I knew they would be cold. Felt like I was getting attitude and it was a hassle to remake 13 tacos. They started remaking it but then I just was concerned they may do something to the tacos cuz I heard the cooks asking “why do ai I have to remake 13 tacos?” I Asked for a refund, got it and then got a wonderful, “thanks have a nice day!” As I walked out.
