Well I hate to write derogatory reviews but when needed I feel obligated to do so.
Wife, Mother, and I went to TV's Deli & Diner for dinner since we were in the area. Pulling up you could tell it was a family owned diner (which I like) but was fairly run down on the outside. Do I think looks make the quality of food? Not at all but cleanliness help my first impression and this was not.
Upon entering, the staff was very nice but the impression continued. Stuff cluttered around the front desk, tables wiped off but not clean, and the menus were covered in filth! It's not hard... Menus need to be cleaned people!! Sitting at the counter was a young kid, probably in his 30s that was mumbling to himself and to others. He was def on some type of drug. He was sweating and started yelling profanity and the cooks and to the air. Eventually someone came over and asked him to be quiet but he should have been asked to leave a long time ago.
Still looking forward to the food we ordered and we were not impressed. 2 of us ordered the "famous" lobster bisque and we were disappointed on how salty it was. Believe me; I like salt as much as the next person but this was unbearable. We didn't eat either of them.
Wife ordered the mushroom swiss burger and was not impressed. It wasn't terrible but was not impressed. Mother ordered the fish. She did like the fish and said that she would order it again but probably by carry out only. I ordered the turkey Reuben and it was made with sliced turkey lunch meat. A family style dinner and you don't have any real turkey? French fries were good but when aren't they?!?!?!
With all that said I understand is a small dinner that keeps prices down by serving a particular type of food. I know this type of restaurant has it place but it's not for me. The price is fair and the food is... ehh... maybe fair.
My suggestion would be clean the place (top to bottom and often) and really specialize on a few dishes.
I also suggest everyone try TV's for yourself because this review is my opinion and yours may...

My visit was on a Thursday Morning at 9:00. I was immediately greeted upon entance.Given my choice of seating and offered a coffee or other beverage along with a menu. My waitress “Christina” was very pleasant, proficient and likeable. She actually seemed to enjoy her job. I chose the Western Scramble “Ham Green Peppers, Onions mixed with Scrambled Eggs & Cheddar Cheese and cheese grits”. Coffee was extra. It was very good actually a decent amount of veggies & ham in the eggs. The grits were excellent a small mound of cheesy creamy grits and covered with crispy blanket of additional cheese. The English muffin was thicker than most and very good. (They also have “Smuckers” products and have Apple/cinnamon jelly which is never usually found. They usual offerings are Grape, Strawberry, Mixed and Orange Marmalade). I was tempted to go for the Green Eggs and Ham as a tribute to my favorite childrens author but maybe next time. The menu is different than all the other places in the area. My only small complaint is that they open at 9:00. I am an early bird and like breakfast soon after I awaken. And the prices are on the higher side but the food is worth it.

Read moreI've been going to TV diner since they opened. They used to be great, even catered my graduation party. Alas, I no longer hold the same opinion.
After moving back downriver, my wife and I started frequenting TV diner again and discovered it had changed for the worse. We had several overpriced poor experiences in a row and decided to stop going about a year ago.
Tonight we decided to give it another try. We ordered carry out. My wife's order was wrong and while cooked properly, my steak was unseasoned and bland. I called to get a refund for my wife's portion of the meal and was told to bring the food back.
Upon arrival I was immediately told what she had ordered was no longer on the menu, the person who took the order was confused, which is why we received the wrong food. I found this explanation to be curious considering the receipt showed the order correctly, as we had ordered it. I mentioned the receipt and the manager told me that it's something that they can still make despite not being on the menu.
While I did get a refund for my wife's portion of the meal, and an apology for the error, no compensation was offered for the poor experience and time spent to rectify the situation. Furthermore the excuse the manager gave was unacceptable and contradictory at best. If it's not on the menu and they don't make it anymore, fine, the person who took the order should have mentioned that when I placed the order. If they do still make it, I should have received what I ordered. If it's as she told me, why even mention it's not on the menu in the first place? Was she trying to shift blame? Finally why backpedal only when I pointed out the receipt?
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. I would no longer recommend this place, it's overpriced and...
