We were very disappointed
We decided to try Turtleback Coffee for some coffee and sweets for our weekend trip to Abq.
I'll start with the one positive: The gentleman who served us was very nice.
Their online menu is not very informative, as some of their drinks don't clearly explain their ingredients.
When we arrived, we found it was set up as a gift store, so we walked past the order window, looking for the coffee shop.
We ordered a caramel latte and a gold rush. We also tried to order some banana bread, but the gentleman had to go to another part of the store to see if they had it. They did not, we then tried to order the cheesecake bites, once again he had to go see if they had them, they did not. So we ordered a muffin and a chocolate iced doughnut.
It took over twenty minutes to get our two drinks and our 3rd and 4th choices of sweets.
When we got on the road, I tasted my “caramel” latte and it didn't have any caramel in it, and the caramel was also not on the label, so that ruined my drink. The gold rush was also not very good. Then we discovered that the chocolate iced doughnut was very old, very dry, and very gross, to the point that if I hadn't been in the car I would have spit it out, so I choked the one bite down. The muffin was fine.
When we got to the Fort Craig rest stop we threw the rest of the gross doughnut, the non-caramel latte, and most of the gold rush in the garbage.
In my thirty-plus years of drinking premium coffee, this was the worst experience...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful time at this young man’s shop. He was so professional and the coffee he made was fantastic. He can make you a pumpkin spice latte year round!! The latte was better than any Latte I have had in my hometown ABQ. This young man is a true barista and cares about his coffee and where it comes from. He sold me a bag of whole bean coffee and ground it for me on the spot. If you come to T or C or Elephant Butte this is a must see!!! The shop itself sells super cute western themed clothes. I purchased a shirt, earrings, and shorts that I...
Read moreI agree that guy was very polite, but not at all speedy or knowledgeable. Apparently the food menu consists of things in a frozen package heated in a microwave oven. This is a gift shop for particular interests mainly, selling low-value items with a coffee window. Reviewing this as a coffee shop with this sort of presentation, I would have to...
