Retired full time motor home traveler for over 15 years. I decided to come to Truth or Consequences for a year to recover from recent heart surgery. I had visited this area several times in my travels. I picked this park because it is one of the few with trees as most of the area is desert. I was confronted by a man who identified himself as the camp host when I first inquired about this park. He told me that he paid his rent by the year in order to receive a discount. I later found out that this was not true as his wife cleaned the bathrooms in return for a deep reduction in their rent. I paid the sum of $4000 for a site which included full hook ups and 50 amp electric included for a year. (I have the receipt). One night while sitting at my computer,I heard something hit my windshield of my class A motor home. The next morning I discovered that someone had broken my windshield. This was approximately six months into my rental agreement. When I first moved into my parking site,I quickly discovered that I had no electrical service. I had to pull my power cord under my motor home and share a 50 amp service with another person. I even had to fabricate my own sewage discharge as the one I was provided was to high to properly drain. I once ordered an item from Amazon which was delivered by the USPS to the Shipping Corner. (Another business owned by the park) Tracking verified that my package had been delivered. The person behind the counter told me that the package had never been delivered. I proceeded to the main USPS postal annex on Date street where I was assured by the post master that the package had indeed been delivered as it was scanned before delivery. When I returned to get my package, the person behind the counter promptly put the package on the counter. Holding his hand firmly on the package and counter in order for me to force it out of his hand. Twice I attempted to wash my clothes at the 3rd street laundromat. (Another business owned by the park) The first time, the machine went through the wash cycle without water. Not my idea of dry cleaning. The second time, the door of the washer would not unlatch. I attempted to get behind it as to unplug it. It was hard wired and took 15 minutes for it to open. Thankfully a new laundromat opened a short distance away in Williamsburg. This park was always visited by the police. I once notified the police of an incident where a man got out of a van threatening another individual with a gun. I showed the recording as I have video cameras. I saved the video. I decided on leaving this park six weeks early to prevent any further damage to...
Read moreI also called ahead a spoke for a bit. So then I went to look at the spot. He also gave me a cash only price. The spot was the furthest from the main entrance and he kept a look in the one right by the spot he showed me. no way I could get my motorhome home thru that place. And it's my only vehicle so I drive it all the Time. The price was reasonable and I was considering. Took an application and fill it , two days later I return with the application and cash. I was desperate even. Had a open heart surgery planned in two weeks. When he came out he told me they decided I wasn't old enough to live there and it's a 59+ community. Nowhere one the sign not the app did I specify that. Or did it even ask for a birthday. I've known several ppl to stay there, I call bull,&#:?. It's obvious I'm gay and that was the problem. If there ever was a fire no one would be able to get there homes out in time. And this company is clearly avoiding paying any taxes. By asking for cash all the time. Zero stars for looks accessibly, and power business practices and...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would, we didn’t end up staying here but had called ahead and the man said he had a spot. He didn’t say on the phone that the price he was quoting was a cash price. So we pulled in and it looked horrible. Lots of junk outside long term trailers, very confined and close together. And a lot of shady looking characters. He took us to a spot squeezed in between two other old rv’s and said what we owed him in cash. He said if he would take a credit card the charge would be higher because of taxes or something. Well thank God we had no cash so we declined and left. Very hard to maneuver to even get out. This place is awful and frankly the whole town of T or C isn’t anything great. Many years ago it was but it sure has gone downhill, what a shame. Be weary...
