I like the pizza here, but being called an a-hole by the owner is another level of service. I walked in and waited on my pizzas and noticed an older gentleman behind me was asked to pay $81 for his meal. I thought it was odd since I was in front but I didn’t think much of it. We both sat there for another 20+ minutes and when his ticket was finally done, a different person brought his pizzas and salads up to the counter and told the older gentleman it would be $81. The gentleman pulled out his wallet and I asked the guy “sir, didn’t you already pay” and he smiled and said oh yes I did and then thanked me for catching that. He took out his salads and said he would come back for the pizzas. Anyway one of the ladies working there was telling the owner the guy already paid and the owner argued that he was certain that the older gentleman did not. I could hear the whole thing sitting in the “waiting area.” The lady goes running out to catch the older man who she suspected hadn’t paid, but he was already coming back for his pizzas. So I hear the owner in the back ask the girl “what a-hole told you he paid” so obviously I’m very surprised because I’m that a-hole who was trying to help this older gentleman not get charged $162 dollars for a couple of pizzas and salads. The owner waited for the older guy to walk in and get the pizzas and proceeded to ask him if he paid. The older gentleman said yes he remembered signing the receipt. One refreshing bit to this story was that the original lady who took the older gentleman’s payment came back in after a delivery as I was about to leave. And the owner yet again asked about the payment and she said “yes he paid”. There’s no point in calling customers names and getting upset when the owner had no idea what was going on. There was never an apology or acknowledgement from the owner for calling me an a-hole. I will never get food from Bucks again. Go...
Read moreThis was our first time trying Buck’s Pizza. We tried to call in our order (before arriving at the restaurant) this evening, but there was no answer, so we just assumed they were very busy.
We arrived and were able to place our order right away—then we asked if they had tables for dining in. They said that we were to go to Bottle Restaurant, a few doors down and they would bring the pizza there. Bottle is a cute restaurant but, as the name implies, it sells wine and other liquor. We don’t drink, so we purchased the only bottle of water the store had on its shelves.
OK . . .
It took about a half hour, but eventually someone showed up with our pizza, napkins, paper plates, and red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese.
The pizza was FANTASTIC! I’ve lived in this area for over 20 years and have had pizza from another shop in Tryon, all over Hendersonville, and several shops in Fletcher, Arden, and Asheville. This was HANDS-DOWN the best pizza we had ever had. My husband and I ordered an extra-large with half pepperoni and half artichoke hearts (a rarity in this area).
The pizza is so full of cheese—the long stringy cheese you see restaurants in Italy—and the toppings are generous.
My husband was born and raised in Brooklyn, so he knows pizza—and he fully agreed with me. We will definitely...
Read moreThis place is a bummer. They cannot handle a busy shift, and the front is tiny. They told me to come 20 minutes after I called, then told me it would be 15-16 minutes longer. I had to stand there another 35 minutes before my food was ready. The lady apologized and handed me a “special” $2.00 off coupon. What to do while standing in a walk-in-closet-sized place for over a half hour? Well, the owner is an unhinged right-wing lunatic. WAY off the deep end. The wall is plastered with all kinds of propaganda and little signs explaining that “government fees” are forcing him to charge US additional $$$. The heartbreaker is that the food was REALLY good. Terrible service, terrible restaurant, but amazing pizza and wings. Unfortunately, my personal position will prevent me from spending another penny in that place. However, if you catch them on a dead night, you may not have to wait an hour and the food...
