I used to like coming to this bar usually once or twice a month when I got the chance with my family or by myself. However our most recent and last visit was not one I will remember with fondness. We came in sat down got our drink orders in then ordered some appetizers and sandwiches while we drank our beer. The server had just come by and checked on us letting us know our food would be out soon and refilled our waters. It was then that a supervisor or manager of the establishment came over and greeted us asking how we were doing. Afterwards he told us we're going to have to place them in the vehicle, at first I wasn't sure what he meant as we had never had this issue before. I soon realized what he meant told him there was no sign on the door we entered nor had we been told by the staff now or in the past. Still it's thier establishment abide by house rules we left back to the vehicle which at the time we considered leaving all together. Some places are fine with it others let you know before or after you entered what they allow in thier place of business. Never had I been in the middle of my drink have I been told to leave in a state that allows open carry and conceal again house rules. But the only sign I found was a small laminated sign pinned in the jam of the doorway of the third door down on the opposite side where we had entered by the steps. It was so small if I hadn't been actively looking for it I would have never have seen it as the other two doors had no signage whatsoever. As you can imagine as busy as the place was it's kind of embarrassing to have to get up and leave because of the incident then come back to eat our food. My brother in particular wasn't having it he served 6 years in the service he wanted to up and leave, but we didn't want the waitress stuck with the bill. Some places have a policy if a guest leaves under any circumstances without paying server gets stuck with it so yeah I wasn't about to do that. We ate our food quickly didn't order anymore drinks just had water when the check came we gave the server a 10 out of a roughly 50 dollar combined check. The server, food, and drinks we're excellent as always. However this will be our last visit as policies with this place we're not clear or consistent not sure when this change had gone through. I expect this from fourth avenue as they let you know well ahead of time that my buissness is not welcome so I don't go there. I have been coming for nearly a year or more only to find that my buissness isn't welcome here anymore is somewhat disheartening. I loved this bar, but if you want to play politics or it's just a sign of the changing times I am more than happy to go take my...
Read moreHave we become complacent with bad to horrible service! My wife says don't say anything they must be having a bad Day. How about when someone other than your server brings the ordered food to the table, is everything okay? They ask. Why yes there is! You did'nt bring my meal! Oh, I will let your server know. 30 minutes later your waitress come to the table. Asks, how is everything the table says it was okay but we could use something more to drink, so we've been there maybe an hour and a half by now. I ask about my meal she says oh ya its coming, by this time everyone has finished their meals. Drinks come and are consumed, another 30 or so minutes go buy. People are asking for checks, another waitress comes and tells me my sandwich is ready, I tell her no thank you, my stomach is upset from the ordeal, no thank you again. 10 or so more minutes waiting for the bills. The same waitress that I had said no thank you to twice brings out my sandwich and placed it in front of me, I again tell her no thank you, please take it back. She then pushed it back in front of me and said with a snap you need to take this. I then ask if she was trying to make me mad or something. Trying to gilt me into taking it. I had to walk outside, leaving my wife to pay the bill, "which there shouldn't have been one"
Is this what it has come to, don't say anything! The original waitress never said she was sorry, can I get you something else and The manager never came to say anything. What has our city / world come to. I surely will not be going back to Barrio Brewery...
Read moreGenerally pretty okay food and drinks, but we won’t be returning after our waitress Joevanna assumed the $10 bill alongside our payment for our check was all for her.
She went away faster than we could even say anything, nor did she even ask if we wanted change. She brought back the other person in our party’s card, but kept the $10 bill for herself. She then brought back after we went and tracked her down via the front register, but made the whole interaction so awkward after informing us that they round up. Mind you she just assumed a 25% tip for herself. In a normal restaurant interaction I expect a waitress to be more communicative or even ask and confirm, or at the least stay long enough for us to speak to her and clarify.
We come to Barrios fairly regularly, and honestly it seems unless you’re a party of attractive men, then you won’t be waited on in an attentive manner. It’s so annoying that when these waitresses see a table of girls they don’t seem to even give you the time of day.
This was honestly the last straw for us, we won’t be returning after such a bad experience with the wait staff. What are we supposed to do if the only cash we have for a tip is a $10 bill? She didn’t even hang around long enough for us to even communicate to her either times.
Barrios needs to retrain their waitstaff on serving etiquette, this isn’t the first time we’ve experienced such a lack of attentiveness or communication either. Being a waitress myself, I know this isn’t not...
