Let me begin by stating that I’ve NEVER written a review on any business in my life, be it bad or good. We arrived in Tucson, myself and the woman that I had planned to propose to on this trip, to attend a concert. Entered our room and dropped our bags and proceeded to lounge on the made bed for a while. Our concert wasn’t until 8:00 so why not just lie around. Stay with me here. We left the room at 7:30 and went to our show, upon returning at around 10:45 we decided to go to sleep. We pulled back the comforter and then the top sheet and discovered a very large blood stain on the second sheet beneath the pillows. A blood stain? On clean sheets? I immediately and extremely calmly contacted who I believe is the manager and he tells me to send him a photo and that he will be there at once. When he arrived he was in a fit of rage. He immediately changed the sheets to brand new sheets out of the new packaging. All the while we sat outside on a small bench just chatting about our concert and being tired. When the “manager” finally appeared back onto the porch he was red with anger. He furiously charged how he would be firing the cleaning person and that this was the final straw. He told us that he had talked to her and she said that she had cut her hand and may have left a blood mark on the sheet. We sat, listening to him rage and we said thank you for coming over to which he said he would just take care of our first night. Mind you, we never requested this, we never complained, we never once asked what they would do for us to make up for it. We calmly walked back inside and prepared for bed. Once we returned back into the room my girlfriend, who is an absolute neat freak, started inspecting further. There were blood spots on the comforter, we hadn’t even checked the pillows. We stayed for another night as we had planned. There were no issues and we had no complaints. We went out. I proposed and she said “yes”. Thank you. The day that we checked out which was 5/13 Mon. We were sitting in a small pastry shop and I looked down at my phone and noticed I had missed a call from the Inn. I returned the call thinking that maybe we had forgotten something and they were reaching out. Nope. The same manager that we had watched rage on the porch about house keeping was now raging on me. He proceeded to tell me that there were small blood spots on the new sheets and that one of us had must’ve had some “open sores” or that I “must’ve had open heart surgery recently”. Not the case for either of us. He then proceeded to tell me, in an absolute barrage of anger, that he has video of my girlfriend and I lying in the bed before the show and also has videos of the cleaners replacing the sheets so we must’ve done something and we're lucky he’s not “charging us the $140.00 for the new sheets”. This man admitted to having cameras in the room and seeing my girlfriend and I on the bed before going to the show. His words “I can even show you the video of the two of you. You came in and stayed for 3 hours and then left again. When you returned you called and said there was blood on the sheets”. I’m not entirely sure as to what else he has on his video recording but I’ve contacted the BBB, which they’re not affiliated and the Attorney General. I’ve also contacted the Tucson police so that I can obtain a police report. Oh, I also have his voicemail he left on my phone In response to the owners response: The only person here with anything to gain from lying is you. I gain nothing. Nor did I try to gain anything when staying at the Inn. I never requested any special treatment nor compensation for anything. I was happy to just spend my days quietly. But.., upon further investigation, it seems that somebody else left a review questioning the ethics of your establishment. Another person pointing out that they believed there were cameras (photo of review in closed). I did receive an email containing a photo of the bedding that you claim was on my bed and that was not our bedding. The photo looks as if it’s from 1983. I digress. You should post that audio.

The location is great, but the property leaves a bit to be desired. First off, I’m staying here in winter, so some issues may not apply to other times of the year. The listing said NOTHING about not having HEAT, so I was surprised to find out that only a space heater was provided. I felt very uneasy about having this running all night or while I wasn’t in the room. So only ran it while there, and despite it running the entire time I was in the room, I could not get the temperature to any higher than 65. And that was just the bedroom where the space heater was located. The bathroom was FREEZING and so uncomfortable because of it. Other issues were as follows: I originally booked the 4th St Room. They called me a week or so before my booking and said it was no longer available due to renovations, and moved us to the Persian room. Persian room had no counter space whatsoever in the bathroom, and a FREEZING marble floors with no rugs. Also some issues with cleanliness and repairs (see photos), and burned out bulbs that I did not take photos of. The main issue was it was just COLD. We were staying 3 nights and you only get 2 towels. It’s an extra fee for any sort of room cleaning service during your stay (this is not specified until AFTER you book), so I was afraid to ask for more towels for fear of incurring fees. Warning signs in the room saying if you get makeup on the towels/bedding, they will charge you. 4 coffee pods for 2 people and 3 night stay. Again, afraid to ask for anything further because of all the nickel and dime warning signs. Marble(?) floor has a weird textured coating on it so you feel like you’re walking on sand/dirty floor all the time. There are no rugs. No warmth in the room. I’m so cold.

The best hidden gem! This was an entire house minus kitchen but full service coffee and water station. Victorian style home with huge front porch and a courtyard style entertainment area. The staff/managers/owners were so amazing, very responsive, and so courteous. I enjoyed my stay so much if in Tucson I will always check to see if it is available. They have many options, from a single room to an entire home.

ETA: I didn't see any other guests except an elderly woman who I exchanged hellos with each time I saw her. She sincerely seemed like a pleasant person who was enjoying her vacation in Tucson. I recommended a few places that she might enjoy since I actually live in Tucson. I hope she enjoyed her stay in the city I was born and raised in. Other than her, I do not know who the owner could possibly be talking about since there's no one to help on the premises. I didn't see any other guests. I refuse to play a petty game of lies with whomever this person I have never met even is. There is no front desk at this establishment, perhaps since I went to Rialto Theater on this particular night I am being judged? Who knows. Again, with the sincere word of advice, please check the plumbing in this particular room and all rooms. Gnats in the bathtub and shower areas are a sign of plumbing problems. My next words of advice, please don't make up lies because you don't like an honest review. Fix the problem and move on with your life. Show a bit of professionalism as a business owner.

Since I am unable to respond to the manager on hotels dot com, I figured that I would write my response here. Again, I loved the theme of The Persian Room. I actually wanted to eventually be a long time customer who saw all the rooms before I got an accusation of smoking in this room. If a property says non smoking, that is the beginning and end of discussion for me. I do not smoke in the room or on the property. I have allergies myself to certain types of smoke and take these things very seriously. However, outside on one of the tables I saw an ashtray with 4 Pall Mall cigarette butts. It might be time for a staff meeting since I only smoke Lucky Strikes. You won't find any of those butts. I stated in my review on hotels dot com, the room was beautiful. I was a bit disgusted with the gnats in the bathtub and shower, but any reputable property owner would take that whole comment as a warning. There is a problem with the plumbing that needs to be looked into. Maybe I should have spelled it out so the manager could understand and take it up with the owner and get the problem taken care of. Housekeeping is doing a beautiful job with the areas you can see, it's the areas that aren't visible to the eye such as under the bed where they fell flat. I am terrified of bugs so after I saw the gnats, I began searching and found dust bunnies. That is an area to speak with them about. The outdoor grounds are amazingly well kept and gorgeous. Whoever is in charge of that is definitely a true keeper. The only mistake I made was not texting the number that was given to me to text, but what could have been done when everything was supposedly already rented? What could you have done? We were both in impossible situations. I had an event to get to. I live an hour away and am unable to drive at night. The accusations of smoking in a beautiful room that obviously cost a small fortune was a cheap shot by someone I am not interested in doing...
