To start service was very slow, and only a handful of people in the place. I have had better food at the drive thru Mexican joints in town. The saving grace were the chips and probably one of the better salsas in town, but not much else to say positive about my experience. High prices, and everything is al a cart. Beans and rice are extra $4. If it was really good, maybe I would not complain, but it wasn't. There is no meat in there, and it was not stuffed with ingredients. No drink refills either as they serve in a bottles. The beans in the burrito were so salty it was unappetizing. I ended up taking most of it out and tossed it in the garbage. I have had better burritos at the drive thru Mexican joints in town. Let me just leave this review saying... there are better and more plentiful Mexican food restaurants to be found in Tucson. Skip this little dive and go to any of the hundreds of delicious, better portioned, and better valued Mexican...
Read moreDon't let the humble, unpretentious decor fool you or dissuade you from stepping inside this light and bright hidden gem. You won't find dim lighting, blood-red curtains and mariachis here; what you will find is authentic, delicious Mexican food that's a little different than the normal Sonoran, and a friendly staff. It's a family owned business, and it shows. The homemade tortillas are excellent as are the salsa, and horchata. We've eaten there several times, and except for one miss (the carnitas was a little too dry on that night) we've loved it. A "miss" is subjective too. My husband and I both had huevos Mexicanos; I thought it was slightly too salty, and he thought it was the best he'd ever had in Tucson. The restaurant is clean and never crowded, but I think once the word gets out, that will change. They're working on a drive through for...
Read moreFirst time here. Pretty basic but tastefully decorated place appeared clean. Convenient location. Basic menu. Friendly lady working. Ordered Mole Poblano, which is shredded chicken with a brownish red sauce containing lots of spices and chocolate. Had it many places before, even down in Mexico. Was very good here, would order again. Good sized portion, had a kick to it but not overly spicy, was just right actually. Not for everyone, but I really do like it. Beans and rice were good. I ordered to go and chips/salsa were included, both pretty good. Everything tasted fresh, nothing instant or canned. Will return when in the area and try some of the other menu items. Food did take about 20 minutes to come out, but I consider that a good thing, don't mind waiting for freshness...
