My boyfriend always needs to visit BK whenever he goes to Tucson. I always thought "Why must he always get Burger King in Arizona? Is it really that much better over there?" Little did I know. We went on a weekday just before lunch and it's a good thing we did because the tables filled up quickly. Our waitress was very kind and when I asked which Caramelo she recommended, she said the Carne Asada was the most popular so that's what I ordered. They have a sauce bar in the middle of the dining area so you can grab your sauces, salsas and guacamole while you wait for your food. The food itself came out fairly quickly. It was hot and fresh. The waitress was right on the money because the caramelo was delicious! The carne asada was so tender and juicy and it was nothing like the Mexican food I've had before. My boyfriend also shared his Sonoran hot dog with me and I was pretty overwhelmed with how much stuff was on it. I'm used to hot dogs where the meat extends past the bread, topped with a bit of ketchup. Usually it's the meat that outshines the toppings but not with this one. This Sonoran hot dog was in a different league. It was loaded with so many veggies and sauces that you can barely taste the hot dog! I thought there was potatoes on the hot dog but it was actually beans. It was definitely a new experience for me. Had a few giggles over the huge hot dog sculpture near the back of the restaurant. I finally understood why my boyfriend always has to eat here whenever he's in the area- I'd totally do the same.

Delicious Sonoran Dog, Friendly Service, but Street Tacos Fell Short I had heard good things about this place and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered a Sonoran hot dog with everything on it and a carne asada corn tortilla street taco. Let me start by saying — the Sonoran hot dog is easily one of the best I’ve had in Tucson. Perfectly grilled, loaded with toppings, and served with a roasted jalapeño on the side, it hit every mark for flavor and texture. Unfortunately, the street taco didn’t quite match the same level. While the meat itself was fine, the presentation was underwhelming and the flavor was a bit lacking — especially given the price. To be fair, this may be due to ordering it to go, so it might fare better when eaten fresh on-site. What really stood out, besides the Sonoran dog, was their salsa bar. The salsas are clearly made fresh and offer bold flavor — especially the hot salsa, which brings serious heat without sacrificing taste. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating, making the visit feel welcoming and appreciated. All in all, this spot shines in some key areas, but with a little improvement in consistency and value, it could easily be a 5-star experience. For now, 4 stars out of 5.

I was ready to leave this place a two star review and never come back, but thanks to the excellent service I will likely give this place another chance. The food was good, my husband had a couple Sonoran hot dogs and I had the quesabirria (sp?)and a carne asada street taco. Decent food, just what you would expect, nothing revolutionary. We also ordered guacamole as a starter, which came with chips, a cocktail (the cucumber mojito, and it was delicious), and two carbonated waters. The problem came when it was time to pay the bill. It turns out that this restaurant actually charges $4 extra for the chips to dip in your guac, and the kicker was seeing a $4.50 charge per carbonated water. The server was nice and combined my husband’s carbonated water into a combo meal to save us .50¢, but we were still shocked to learn that this establishment charges nearly five bucks for water with carbonation in it. Like wut? I can’t think of a single restaurant or bar where they charge for carbonated water. Not even chuckee cheese or Peter Piper pizza. Also, the cocktail is listed as $9 on the menu but they charged $10 for it. So we pulled a Karen and asked for the manager. She was sympathetic, but at first was only going to reduce the bill by $4, because we technically didn’t “order” the chips that came with the guacamole, but they came with the guacamole anyway. So I was ready to never come back, but then the manager came back with the bill and had removed the charges for the carbonated water, and also the chips. So lesson learned, (and be warned) never order carbonated water from BK Carne Asada, or the guac and chips. Also, they need to make the charge for the cocktails...
