Creosote-Sonoran Kitchen and Cocktails — Restaurant in Tucson

OK, I was a big fan of the previous restaurant the Catalina BBQ joint. So I was a bit concerned about this new concept. And when I walked in I wasn't sure about the new decor - certainly more upscale than the previous restaurant. But having eaten dinner there twice this last week, I am sold...end of story. The new bar is actually pretty nice...no complaints. The new menu is GREAT. It looks like the restaurant is focusing on doing a handful of things really well. And they do. Great cocktail menu (they didn't have a French 75 on the menu for my wife, but they made one for her and it was great). They have a solid wine menu (I think they could use a few more selections). The food is EXCELLENT. I personally had the Sonoran Dog one night and the Braised Short Rib the other. Both were, well, EXCELLENT (great fries with the dog, BTW). Service was pretty good (they could have been faster with the drink service and maybe needed one more person behind the bar). The folks working the restaurant were all super nice and welcoming. And not to dwell on it, but the food was EXCELLENT! That will bring us back on...

Excellent food, cocktails, in a beautiful room overlooking Starr Pass' golf course. We were there for lunch and the smash burger, salads, and soups are excellent. The chocolate cake is divine. Very attentive and knowledgeable service...
