El Guero Canelo on 12th Street in Tucson, Arizona has consistently been a culinary delight for me since 2005. Every visit is a nostalgic journey, as this iconic establishment has managed to maintain its authentic charm over the years. The star of the show, the Sonoran hot dog, is nothing short of amazing (and I don't even like hot dogs). The perfectly grilled bacon-wrapped hot dog nestled in a soft bolillo bun, topped with pinto beans, diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, mayo, and mustard, creates a symphony of flavors that never fails to satisfy my taste buds.
What sets El Guero Canelo apart is not just its delectable hot dogs but also the vibrant atmosphere enhanced by the salsa bar. The array of salsas, ranging from mild to fiery, allows patrons to customize their culinary experience. It adds an interactive and fun element to the dining experience, making each visit unique. The freshness and variety of the salsas showcase the commitment to quality ingredients and attention to detail that characterize El Guero Canelo's offerings.
Beyond the culinary delights, the consistency of El Guero Canelo is truly commendable. Despite the passage of time, the restaurant has maintained the same high standards that initially captivated my taste buds. The dedication to preserving the essence of their signature dishes speaks volumes about the establishment's commitment to its roots and the satisfaction of its loyal customers.
The staff at El Guero Canelo deserves accolades for their friendly and efficient service. The welcoming atmosphere combined with quick and attentive staff members enhances the overall dining experience. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time fan like myself, the hospitality at El Guero Canelo adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the already delightful culinary journey.
In conclusion, El Guero Canelo on 12th Street in Tucson, Arizona, continues to be a shining gem in the city's culinary landscape. From the unchanged, mouthwatering Sonoran hot dog to the dynamic salsa bar and impeccable service, this establishment has rightfully earned its five-star status in my book. If you find yourself in Tucson, a visit to El Guero Canelo is not just a meal; it's an experience that encapsulates the essence of Sonoran cuisine...
Read moreI'll start by saying the food is pretty good. The experience was horrible though and I will never go back. I placed an online order at approximately 1:10 pm on a Saturday. The pickup time online said 1:45 which was fine. As I was driving there I got an email saying it would not be ready until 1:55 pm. No problem, things happen, especially in the restaurant world. I went to the window at about 1:50 fully prepared to wait. When I got there they asked my name and told me it wasn't ready yet to please wait. No problem. Then someone came and asked me what I ordered. I pulled out my phone to show them my order and they found it in the computer. It had never even been started. I was told I would need to wait about 10 more minutes, no offer of anything for my inconvenience or a discount. I'm pretty annoyed by now but whatever, I was there so I waited. No one ever let me know my order was ready. Finally around 2:15 someone asked me if they could help me and I told them I was still waiting on the order and they were like oh yeah, here ya go. So I took it and at that point was still mostly satisfied. Then we opened the order. In the order was the hotdog with 2 weenies, but we didn't get that, just the regular one and the website said something about bacon wrapped which it definitely was not. We also ordered the large carmello that said it came with beans and it definitely did not. It was just a beef quesadilla on a plate. We also had a few tacos and a torta in the order. Those were ok, although one of the tacos was seriously messy like it had been dropped on the floor before they wrapped the plate. Overall I have to say I am completely dissatisfied with the experience here. It came recommended and I have to believe that this was just an off day for them or something but it's not a chance I...
Read moreThought we'd try this place since we saw it on TV. It's just meh. Family members ordered hot dogs but they were a little disappointed because the bacon was not actually crispy. My chicken burrito was decent for the price , but had zero seasonings . Their other menu items seemed overpriced to me.. They have a decent condiments bar , but the grilled onions smelled really strong/funky and tasted the same, as well as they weren't fully cooked. The business itself on Oracle is a large industrial looking building with a very high ceiling, but it was freezing inside so they don't seem to care much about keeping customers comfortable. the entrance doors were misaligned - all wonky, hard to open without opening the other one, and some of the clientele looked pretty gangy. (maybe it's not in a nice neighborhood? - I don't know) Clerks were polite. You have to enter a code to get into the bathrooms which is kind of ridiculous. They have a sink out in the dining area to wash your hands which is fine, except it was very dirty looking. The mens bathroom was very dirty with litter on the floor and stunk heavily of urine which made me gag. A family member asked about the flan that they advertised and found out it was just a tiny factory made cup like the size of a small apple sauce cup, and they wanted $3.99 for that! Of course we...
