With a massive menu to choose from, as a first time customer I felt pretty much ignored after I was asked what I wanted to drink and eat within 30 seconds of sitting down. And if you do not order within those 30 seconds, be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes before your server decides to grace you with their presence once more, even when there are only 3 other tables, all of which have food. While you wait enjoy bland Mariachi style music, and some, I'll admit, rather beautiful art-work, and a general asthetic of a stereotypical Mexican restaurant. While taking all this in, when you are surprised to see your long lost friend; your waiter/waitress. You realise it's been, as above, 8 minutes. You've scarfed down your chips and bean dip, some of the salsa. You tell them off this massive, overpriced menu. (Lunch specials are very well priced, but what makes a dinner burrito $12 instead of $7?). What's that? You drank your iced down water in about 5 sips while reading this like a normal human? Well, good luck getting a refill. I know water is expensive, but with a $10 price tag for a single taco, I assumed you could afford and be willing to take on my daunting request of more water. Yet, my desire goes unanswered as my waitress is likely finishing up that 435th level of candy crush or whatever mobile game is hot right now, in the back where she doesn't have to deal with 'entitled jerks' such as I. How dare I require water. It took only 5 minutes for a rather large skillet for my fajitas to arrive at my table after ordering as well as my rice, forcing my waitress to end her mandatory 10 minute break after any meaningful task, short. I smiled and thanked her for her valient effort in keeping me from leaving a one star review, as if it would matter anyway. Immediate opinion on my food was a simple one. It's pretty good, as to be expected being an hour from Mexico. The only thing they seem to do right, is this delicious meal. It is clear the cooks at least care about customer service. I even tried the guac, something I detest, and I found it tolerable. I might actually have more of it once I get halfway through the entree delivered to me. This thing could feed a small family of 3... Or one large, hungry american man. Overall if you're willing and able to spend $10 a head at minimum for dinner this place certainly is not bad. But if you're a cinic google maps reviewer like I, just don't bother.
Edit* The massive skillet of food I had, I was apparently expected to eat it all on two small, however delicious tortillas. And good luck scooping it onto your tortilla with the tiny fork...
Read moreOur family (party of 5) drove from Sahuarita to try this popular restaurant out tonight (February 3, 2024 around 6pm). We were promptly greeted with smiles and seated at the furthest northeast corner booth of the room. Our experience seemed promising, but we left disappointed, primarily with our waitress. Once seated, chips and salsa were promptly delivered. Drink orders followed in a timely manner. At this point, we all but lost our waitress's attention to the military man eating alone in the booth next to us. Our entree order arrived about 30 minutes later after we listened through 4+ songs from the live band. Upon first bite we all looked at each other in surprise over the lukewarm temperature of the food. This did not bother us too much, except for the child’s plate of $8.99 chicken nuggets with cold, limp, oily fries. We had to get our waitress’s attention to eventually tell her about the cold fries. She took the plate and proceeded to the booth next to us to have a 5+ minute conversation with the military man before returning the food to the kitchen. She returned the plate to us (now about 10 minutes later) and quickly left. The plate had the same nuggets and fries, now microwaved to heat them up, leaving them less appetizing than before. It was evident that our waitress was now avoiding us. Another waitress walked by and asked if we needed anything, so we asked for our check and 2 take home boxes. She announced it on their radio and our waitress appeared a few minutes later. When we explained our dissatisfaction to our waitress, she tried to make us feel as though we should have been more vocal with her when she brought back the food. She wasn’t sure she could do anything to comp us since we didn’t tell her right away and give back the food a 2nd time. We explained that was difficult with her lack of attention to our table and we gladly placed the inedible nuggets and fries (wrapped in a napkin) in her hands. She returned and proceeded to tell us (in a tone) that the manager “le llamo la atención”, took the item off the bill, and reduced it from $99 to $90.10. We will...
Read moreMy family and I were invited to a birthday dinner Saturday night. There were 14 people total. It was our first time eating at this restaurant. At first everything seemed ok until the end. We received our ticket and saw our server added an extra meal which she eventually acknowledged and corrected. Then we saw that we paid $7 for my 3 y/o 6-8oz lemonade. When I asked our waitress about it she said they don't do free refills. That was a bit upsetting considering she didn't mention it when she offered to refill it when it was half full. If they aren't free you should just bring a completely new cup filled up instead of making us pay full price for topping off the cup we already had. We also asked her if they do Military discount (considering we are 20 yrs active duty) to which she said yes. She then proceeded to ask who is in the military. I told her my husband and I. She said "so, you two?". At this point it was upsetting bc she acted as if it was hard to believe. I responded and said yes. She then said "well, you have to have an id", I told her we both have our IDs, and I tried to show her but she told us to give her a minute. She stepped away and came back and said she couldn't do the military discount. I asked her why and she said bc you are on a split ticket. I found that odd bc we've never had an issue even if the ticket was split but we just said ok and received our new receipt and for some reason everyone else got a new receipt too. After looking over the new receipts we saw that she had added a 15% gratuity to our ticket and no one else's. Everyone was very confused. My friend and her family are all Hispanic. My husband and I were the only interracial (white/African American) couple so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not but we definitely did not receive the same service as...
