Hacienda Azul — Restaurant in Tucson

The server was not prepared, she didn't have a pen or pencil to write down order. I have allergies to chili, so my omelet needed cheese substitute and no Pico. My food arrived cold. I ordered veg omelet with only mushrooms, spinach, onion and monterey cheese. The omelet was missing the cheese. Waitress offered a slice of cheese, but it would not taste the same with omelet cold. She did not offer to heat it up. White toast was cold and hard. The butter did not melt thats how cold it was. Potatoes were cold. I can honestly say the coffee and side of beans were great. Server came and asked if I needed refill on coffee, it came 20 minutes later. We asked another server to bring my refill, and I believe she informed our assigned server. When asked to speak to Mgr, she came and appeared to have no personality. When she approached our table she quickly said our waitress explained my omelet had cheese and she said I wanted extra cheese. I quickly corrected her and told her I had opened the omelet to show the waitress it didn't have cheese at all and the waitress replied , I did tell the cooks no pick and to substitute the cheese and they did not. Waitress said she placed it on the ticket. I told the Mgr why is the waitress lying? I personally think she totally forgot and asked that no cheese and Pico in omelet. I wanted the Mgr to be aware that my food was horrible she offered to remove thee plate from my ticket, but I told her that is not what I wanted. Told her I would still pay for entire bill I just wanted her to know what happened. I gave her my card and bill, she came back advised me she removed the plate from bill. I thanked her, but by the time I said thank you, she had walked away.this what I mean of no personality. My thoughts, if you are the Manager, your employees that you over see are a reflection of you. I do not recommend this place, unless you like cold food, toast so cold & hard you can break a window and most important, waitress who lies and turns the story around to cover her error and Manager who needs to go through...

Today, we visited Hacienda Azul, and we HIGHLY recommend them. They have carefully and thoughtfully created an atmosphere and menu that is pleasing to the eyes and palate. The kitchen houses a group of chefs who take pride in the details. The combination of flavors offers an exciting and refreshing taste. We started with their birra and cheese empanda. It was paired with thinly sliced red onion and raddish that rested on a bed of lettuce. The empanda itself was light and crispy. The filling combination with the melted cheese was literally a chef kiss. My husband ordered the chorizo omlette that was filled with chorizo, onions, bell peppers, and chesse. It was topped with a sliced avocado and paired with house potatoes with the choice of either 2 corn or a flour tortilla. I ordered the chorizo con papas plate. The chorizo was made just like my nana would make it. It was paired with a side of beans, freshly made pico, two slices of queso fresco, and a choice of a flour or 2 corn tortilla. The last plate was the Quesabirrias tacos with a side of consome (a very flavorful and tasty consome) with the traditional freshly cut cilantro, cabbage, and onions. We each ordered a glass of tea that did not disappoint. We were so pleased with our experience. We will likely become regulars. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication...

Decided to have brunch here today and it didn’t disappoint. There were so many options that caught my eye but we decided to go with the strawberry salad, quesabirrias, and a torta pibil. Firstly, the portions are generous for the price. Everything was flavorful, I was especially impressed by the salad, the strawberry vinegrette was exceptional combined with every ingredient, it’s obvious a lot of thought went into this menu. The Pibil was flavored thoroughly and nearly butter soft. We also had a coffee flight and tres leches cake. The cake was super moist (like a tres leches should be) either cinammon sugar in it, yum! Looking forward to trying the guava cheesecake next time and the empanadas. Thank you staff for excellent first time experience will definitely be coming back again and recommending...
