When I walked into chopsticks I walked up to the wait staff and asked to a table for three, they showed us a table and told us they were slightly undermanned for the night but would happily serve us and shouldn't have many delays. After surveying the restaurant, perhaps 3 other tables all who had their food, I figured this was reasonable and wouldn't really be any big deal.
After that initial encounter we waited for over 30 minutes for anyone to come back. We sat there without any water or service at all. I know they had at least 4 employees working based on seeing them all behind the counter. The restaurant remained mostly empty, but still no service. Finally some water came. We made our order of appetizers and entrees at the same time. Now, the first entrée I asked for I was told could not be made on order. I had to call in an hour ahead of time to order it apparently. However this was not mentioned on the menu. So then I went for my second choice, I was also told that while they had the ingredients, I could not order that. Again, the reasoning was all of them were frozen and it would take an hour to prepare at a minimum. I was supposed to have pre-ordered that somehow. Again, you guessed it, no mention of this on the menu. Fine, whatever. Choice number 3 looked good enough.
The waiting game continues, and continues.....and continues. It has now been 30 minutes since we placed our order and NONE of our food has come out. Not the appetizers, not the entrees, nothing. Meanwhile a couple comes in after we place our order goes up to the register, orders a to go order, and gets their MULTIBOX (I literally counted 8 boxes) TO GO ORDER WHILE WE ARE STILL SITTING WITHOUT ANY FOOD.
At this point we all decided the hour + wait for horrible service and no food was no longer worth it. We left. The restaurant was not particularly busy, there were multiple employees on hand, not a single one of them was running around nor working particularly fast or with any urgency, another couple who entered the restaurant over 30 minutes after us placed an order and received it while we hadn't even received our appetizers. We went to Oklahoma Joes BBQ next door and had good food, great service, and quick food delivery.
The food on the menu really looks phenomenal, but no way its worth the hour + wait to have no service. If you go I strongly encourage you to leave 10 minutes after your order is placed if you don't have your food. All three of us have worked in restaurants before, we all get it when you are busy or undermanned. However this restaurant was clearly not busy and the servers were clearly not operating with any urgency. I don't normally write poor reviews but it really...
Read moreThinking of recent experiences of eating at a Chinese restaurant. Then there was so much food on the plate that it was a meal in the restaurant, and a meal in a go box for tomorrow. Now, shrinking portions. This inflation is killing everyone! Entering the restaurant. With an expressionless face, the waitress directed us to sit where we like. There was no wasted effort on a smile or a greeting. Chinese chips and salsa came to the table. The waitress impatiently waited for our response to her “what do you want to drink?” Returning quickly with the drinks, her deadpan face solicited our food order. I had barely completed verbalizing my order and she was gone, returning hurriedly to the kitchen before I was able to request an order of egg rolls. I flagged her back and got the order in. I’m glad I did!! Like a mask her, facial expression never varied at each interaction. My efforts to try to get her to reflect a smile was wasted. The service was adequate. The egg rolls were delivered. The first bite was delicious. It is unusual to describe an egg roll as light. They seemed light. Not fat, heavy, greasy, fried eggrolls. The filling was seasoned, lightly; just enough to tame to cabbage flavor, but not hide it. A light crispy fried wrapper took good to excellent! My wife’s meal came with soup. She ordered the Hot and Sour. Great flavor. Noticeably absent were mushrooms, tofu, or chicken; the ingredients usually found in a fully loaded Hot and Sour soup. A couple of bamboo slivers and egg. That was it! Our food arrived. I delayed the dining a minute to capture a picture. Completed, lunch resumed, and my wife was just about to stick a chunk of chicken when the waitress reappeared. She hastily grabbed the plate. Without expression explained she had delivered the wrong meal. No chicken was missing from someone else’s order! Cautiously adhering to Americanized versions of Chinese food, my wife ordered General Tso’s. The first plate mistakenly delivered to her was Sesame Chicken. I got a picture! I went with the Hot Garlic Chicken. Check the pictures and the menu for details of each. Here is what stood out on both meals. First, white meat chicken. No mysterious knuckles of chicken meat. Then the sauces. Slightly sweet, but not overly sticky, syrupy sauces. Nice flavors and just enough heat to make them enjoyable. I like the cooking here. Very Good!

Read more[After the 2020 PANDEMIC, their hours changed, because they can't find waitresses. New hours: Sun, Tue, W, Thu 11-8:00 p.m., Fri and Sat 11-8:30p.m. Closed every Monday. I've just submitted an edit on Google 08/13/2022, but currently it says they stay open until 9:00 p.m. - not true, because the owner said she didn't know how to change it on Google. They do great food, not computers.] The Lemon Chicken is lightly breaded, and deliciously crispy (deep fried). It consists of two large pieces of chicken breast that I can never finish, because it is so filling. The lemon sauce is superb, and the fried rice delicious. I pay extra for an additional bowl of lemon sauce, because it is so good. But you must request it while ordering. After the food arrives is too late to get additional lemon sauce.
My husband and I love the egg rolls which come 3 to an order for a few dollars. They are always too hot to eat when they first arrive and must cool down a little. But we love that!!
My husband's favorite dish is the General Tso, but since he doesn't like extremely spicy dishes, he asks for the amount of spice to be reduced. It is still too spicy for me, even though he tells them to make it "Mild." He forgot to ask for mild once and I was laughing at the waterfall of sweat running down his forehead! He was mopping his face with napkins! But said it was really tasty, just hotter than he was used to, LOL!
So if you like extreme spiciness, just tell them you want it to be "Spicy," and Chopsticks will deliver!! But they are very accommodating if you want to make a revision, they really do listen and perform well. Plus I think it is a very clean restaurant. They seem to take pride in their establishment and delivering quality in every way. Our waitress even remembers what we like to order and asks if we want it again, which amazes me, since we only go in once or twice a month.
I also love their...
