I moved back home to Tulsa in Aug 2020 after living in Texas for 22 years I had yet to find any Mexican restaurant even remotely close to what we had in Texas until today! We decided to finally try Bravo’s since it is on the Jenks Football fundraiser card I bought last August and I am so wishing we would have tried them sooner!! So thankful we finally found Bravo’s for it truly is comparable to all the amazing Mexican food restaurants we had in Texas that I have missed so dearly!! Their chips and salsa were great and they also had the hotter salsas(on request) that you can add to their base salsa like they do in Texas! I got street tacos (2 brisket and 1 chicken, no onions) with charro beans and Mexican street corn. They were spot-on to our favorites down in Texas! I also tried their house margarita that was only $2.99 during lunch and it was the first margarita I’ve had since leaving Texas that I actually could taste(and feel) the alcohol in it! AND they didn’t look at me as if I were crazy when I asked them to rim the glass with Tajin instead of salt!! (Another Texas-ism) I can’t wait to go back and have several!! So if you’re looking for really good Mexican food and margaritas that compare to the Texas standard, Bravo’s is definitely the place to go!! ❤️🌮🥑🫔
Update to my original post in 2020. I still love their food, but sadly we stopped eating here due to service (and they no longer have the lunch margaritas) 😔 We always sat in the bar area for it has a lot better atmosphere than the main dining area. After eating here at least once or twice a week and always having amazing servers, they got a new server in the bar area (mid 2021) who was always the one who waited on us. I should have tried to remember his name, but he is a heavier set guy and always acted irritated and put out to wait on us. Yet we would see him be overly friendly to tables next to us that we’re all men. 🤷🏼♀️ I got to where I would dread seeing him being on shift as we walked around the corner to the bar area. I could understand if we were pain in the a$$ customers, but we were always friendly, never sent anything back to the kitchen nor complained, and would always help clear and stack our dishes! I’ve waited tables in the past and always busted my butt to give my customers the best service possible!! I always tip well(at least 25% or more for good service and 20% for okay service) So even though the food and margaritas are amazing, we stopped going because of...
Read moreBravos is amazing! We come here about once a month and have never had bad service.
Usually we come during their lunch hours, but have ventured out occasionally for dinner, and the timely service never falters. The wait staff is attentive and quick to replace drinks, chips, salsa, and any other requested items.
Their salsa is fresh and mild enough that I, who is a big pansy, can enjoy it. Alternatively, they offer a few spicy options for those who enjoy a bite. Their delicious queso blanco comes in two size and their bottomless chips are fresh.
We have never ordered an entre we didn't enjoy and almost every plate has required a to-go box because of how large the portions are. However, if you aren't a fan of left-overs and prefer to eat your entire meal in one setting to avoid waste, you can order off the lunch menu which is both cheaper and easier to finish in a single visit.
For those of us with food allergies or who might be vegetarian, Bravos caters to any special needs and/or requests. It's always awkward when you go to a restaurant and have to ask for a special Gluten Free menu, because it can sometimes seem like the tables around you or even your wait staff is judging you for having such a trendy diet. This isn't the case at Bravos. They have tiny badges next to many of their menu items that state whether a dish is Gluten Free or Vegetarian. Many of their entrés are easy to manipulate to make Gluten Free as well.
The presentation of their food is always on point and is set on simplistic plates so that all your focus is on the food. You know a restaurant means business when they don't rely on anything other than the taste of their food to impress.
We've only ever made room for desert one time (on our anniversary) and the dish quickly became Instagram famous because of how elegant it was. We ordered the Mexican cheesecake and it was to die for!
Seriously, if you are in the area and either don't know where to eat, or have a hankering for Mexican food, Bravos is the...
Read moreThe food was amazing. We really enjoyed everything. But what wasn’t great was the service. We came in with a family of 6. We got sat down by the hosts and she was very sweet. By the time the hosts walked off the server walked up, and immediately brought chips and salsa. As I was putting my youngest into the high chair she asked me where we ready to order and I kindly told her no. Seeing as though we barely had just gotten seated and hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu. She then asked for our drink orders and I kindly gave them to her. Then , she comes back with the drinks maybe 3-4 mins later , drops the drinks off and asks again if we were ready. Once again I said no we needed a few more minutes. She says ok and walks off. Me and husband continue searching the menu for what to order ourselves and the kids. 5 mins later she comes back again and ask. So at this point one I feel rushed to hurry and make a decision because each time she returns back to the table she stares as us with her note pad out ready to write the order. And also seems a little frustrated each time I tell her we’re not ready to order. We had 4 kids and ourselves to order for and needed a decent amount of time to look over the menu. We ordered the third time she comes back.
We didn’t wait long for our food, but when our food arrived our drinks, were empty and we had no napkins. She dropped the food and never came back to check on us until our plates were about empty. It wasn’t busy but it also wasn’t slow. I feel like the food didn’t match the service. And I will choose not to go here as a big family due to this. It’s already a lot of stress trying to order for children and things as a family. I feel like with the amount of what we spent the service should’ve been better. The food...
