I rarely visit diners for lunch or dinner, but I do when it comes to breakfast. On New Years day, my wife and I wanted breakfast. Mom's family diner pulled up on Google Maps, and off we went. The restaurant resides in a converted gas station. Walking in, you'll notice it is no thrills environment. While the place doesn't shine in decor, it does with great service, food, and value. Promptly after being seated, a waitress came over to make small talk and get our drink order. After bringing us our drinks, she informed us that our actual waitress will be with us shortly. Not much longer were greeted by another friendly waitress who took care of us during the rest of our stay. Not only was she friendly, but she was also quick and efficient. She helped guide me through selecting other sides rather than potato and bread. Our meals arrived at the same time, fresh and hot. The first thing I noticed was that the fruit I ordered was fresh cut thrasher than the fruit you get that has been in a sugar water solution. The strawberries were a nice touch. The omelet was good-sized and had plenty of filling. As for my meal as a whole, I was very satisfied. Without hesitation or explanation, they allowed my wife to order off the kids' menu. She ordered the pancake with a scrambled egg and one piece of sausage. The pancake almost covered the entire plate, bigger than we expected. The badder definitely has sugar added to it since the pancake itself tasted slightly sweet without butter or syrup. The texture of the sausage was different, not necessarily bad, but it crumble somewhat easily. Maybe they made their sausage in-house without a binder. We didn't think to ask. Our visit was enjoyable on all aspects. Service was on point, food arrived hot and delicious, and it didn't break the bank. I wouldn't hesitate to have breakfast again at Mom's family diner.

Chicken fried steak with white gravy, eggs, hash browns, rye toast, and a side of grits. Oh and coffee of course. Cup never went dry. Those of you that are meticulously of the coffee/contaminate ratio would probably get upset from the almost constant addition to my cup. Another reason I'm a black coffee fan. Gratefully it's good coffee which is another waning practice in the industry. CFS was excellent and a decent size. Hash browns cooked properly which seems to be a passing thing in most places. As far as the eggs go, for several years due to my eating out often due to my occupation, I normally tell the wait person to surprise me. I usually do stipulate no over medium as that seems to be the default . I didn't and that's what I got. They were cooked correctly, no complaints. Nice place, friendly people. Was packed when I first arrived around 845. Rices are slightly less than average for the area.Well worth your time.

Moms Family Diner- 41st and mingo We tried out this restaurant when we started to have a lot of problems at one of our usual restaurants that is similar to Mom's Family Diner. If I did this review when we first started going here I would have given 5 stars but we have had some problems with the service. One of the big things for me and my family, is to keep our drinks filled. We drink can drink pretty quick. We don't expect to have refill before or as soon as we get done with the drink but shouldn't have to wait till we get our meal before you see that we need a refill especially when you have to wait a little while for it to be freshly made. If it was super busy we know it may be a little bit before getting a refill but for this to happen when there is barely anyone there, it becomes a major problem. We have had some problems when it comes to the ticket so we can pay for our food. We would get done and then be sitting for 10 minutes plus before we get our ticket and only after waving someone down to bring it to us. Recently I told them when they was taking our order that I was going to have a to go order as well and gave them what it was. I never got the receipt or food and I don't think they even wrote it down. It may just be a new server in training for some of the times but with how many people there, I wouldn't think I'd have to wait so long with an empty drink or wait to be able to pay my bill. Those are the 2 main things on why it lost 2 stars. I have gone here a lot and looked at my entire experience so this isn't after 1 or 2 instances. The food is amazing, best burger I've ever had and the portions are great. People are friendly and I will still go here every once and a while. Definitely suggest this Diner...

So this was the first first visit to this restaurant. We were really looking g forward to a late breakfast last Sunday. Playing devil's advocate- we did arrive about 45 min before close. With i feel is more than enough time. Anywho. The biggest problem with the food was that it was cold when it made it to the table. Both orders of hash brown were not fully cooked. My ham steak had some grill marks on the outside but was not much more than about room temp when I cut into it. My eggs were cooked perfectly. My sausage gravy for my biscuits was cold but the flavor was on point. Very delicious just needed it to be hot. My girlfriend ordered a blueberry waffle that came plain- easy mistake. Probably my biggest complaint would be that, and I know that these people have a job to do, but when we were trying to eat out meal they were sweeping and mopping right by our table. The sweeping should have been the biggest no no but I'm not a big fan of cleaning products while I'm eating. We now know to arrive well before closing and will be back because the...
