Be sure to try the Turkey Tail! It is all about the sauce. The enchilada sauce at Mamà Lencha’s is some of the best in Tulsa. I occasionally make my own red sauce from scratch. I have a good idea of the work involved and what is good and what is not. Mamà Lencha’s red sauce is superior perfection! Not that tomato based, from the can excuse for sauce that is served at many of the less quality restaurants. It is a simple sauce that delivers a complex flavor. It smothered the chopped steak filled enchiladas making for a beefy, savory mild chili pepper delight! The green sauce is of the same quality. Fresh tangy tomatillos made in to the perfect green delicious gravy to complement the grilled, chopped chicken. We got a chance to meet Mamà Lencha and complement her on her wonderful food. The friendly little lady was ear to ear in smiles when we to told her how much we loved the food and especially the enchilada sauce. She said they made it from scratch every day using the finest blend of dried peppers. Mamà Lencha operates two restaurants. This one on Mingo and the other on Memorial in a gas station. This one has been open about three years and the one on Memorial has been operating for about 11 years. Mamà runs a tight operation. The restaurant is clean, good friendly service and excellent food. As you may have figured by now, we had and order of red and an order of green enchiladas. They both come with beans and rice. I added a fiery chili toreado, so I could enjoy its heat both today and tomorrow. The have a mild green salsa and a spicy hot red sauce if you need them. Delicious food. Chips and salsa are an extra if you want them. Order at the counter and pick your food up at the counter. Turkey tails are indeed one of the meat options I have to try. If Mamà says it is Authentic Mexican, it is...
Read moreI went to this place for the first time only because my usual Taco Truck @ 51 and Mem behind Walgreen's was closed. I always get street tacos with Carne Asada and they charge $2 a taco. So if I get 5 tacos its $10. They make them fresh and I always get them in less than 10 minutes and they are So good and their salsa is good!
Today I go in here and I see on the menu its $9.99 for 3 tacos, rice and beans. So I ask the girl at the counter how much for 4 tacos w/ Asada? I don't want rice and beans. Before she even answers my question she starts ringing it up. I ask again. Once she's done putting in the computer (before I said yes or no) she says ok it will be $13 and change. (It was close to $14) I said for 4 tacos!?! (They charge .50 for using a credit card) . I was on lunch and I didn't have time to go somewhere else so I just bit the bullet. I then waited about 15 to 20 minutes for my food. The flavor was good but they mixed in cooked onions with the meat and pretty much every other bite of meat was gristle. I can handle once maybe twice but that many times is just gross. I asked for green salsa, she repeated it back to me "Ok green" and then handed me some kind of orange salsa , it was ok but not what id asked for...
I just feel like they are expensive. Took quite a bit to get the food and granted...they seemed a little busy and it tasted good but the gristle was not good at all!
I will stick with my...
Read moreI’ve been looking for a favorite, go-to authentic Mexican Food restaurant in Tulsa since we moved here from MI 2.5years ago. Today, my phone dying necessitated a stop at the nearest gas station on Mingo Rd to purchase a car charger & that is how I stumbled upon this place….I’m so glad I did! The food was delicious, & the service was amazing. The women who work there were so incredibly kind & welcoming. I felt like I was really in Mamá’s Kitchen. I got a chicken quesadilla for my 3.5yr old son, but when it was a little too spicy for him to eat, she quickly & happily made him up a plain cheese quesadilla - free of charge, with a warm, understanding smile. This will be our go-to place for authentic Mexican Food from here-on-out! (I got the chorizo breakfast tacos & some fresh guacamole + chips which were also so delicious! Next time we might try the Asada Fries...
