This cute, clean sit-down restaurant is in an industrial area and it's nice to have choices. Very fairly priced, much less than some of the "higher" end Mexican restaurants, and amazing service. Chips and salsa were both very good; I love the crispy, light chips. Refried beans were tasty, however, no cheese on top; fine by me, but some people probably would be unhappy. Now, the reason for the 4/5 on food is personal preference and an unwillingness to accommodate, let me explain. Firstly, the guacamole was over 50% tomatoes and onions, I prefer a much larger ratio of avocado. When I asked the waitress if next time I could order avocado slices instead, she said no, they will not do that. And the other issue with food was the chili relleno. The menu describes as a breaded, fried poblano pepper with queso. I forgot to ask for no queso and add red sauce, but they did bring red sauce when I requested. I spent a lot of time with Mexican friends who loved cooking, and it's beyond me why Oklahomans generally like everything smothered in queso! Sometimes the menu says "breaded" but the chili is made with egg batter. I much prefer the egg batter and there was barely any breading on the chili, just a few crumbs. Overall, a very good restaurant with piping hot, quick food. I will visit again but pass on the guac and...
Read moreI went with the Acapulco; two cheese enchiladas, one taco, one tamale, guacamole, beans and rice. The good; The tamale was covered with a Texas style chili sauce. It tasted like, well, like Texas chili. The tamale although small was very good! The beans were good also! The average; That would be the guacamole, the cheese enchiladas, and the rice. Cheese enchiladas have no chance of ever being a respected food. It is not the restaurant’s fault. It is just that cheese enchiladas are the most boring food to be found on a plate of Mexican food. It is like a cake donut without and frosting. Why do the make those things. The not so good; The taco. Specifically, the greasy ground beef in the taco. It also had an unusual texture. I suspect that the beef was blended with refried beans. It tasted different than taco filling I have experienced. My wife’s plate of food was similar. A plate of food without any redeeming attributes to draw you back to the restaurant. The service was very good! It is OK food. It just didn’t...
Read moreI decided to write a review after reading the one negative review. That review did not make any sense whatsoever, down to misspelling the name. While Gardner may own the building, he does not run this restaurant. It is run by a family who know how to make Mexican food. They treat us like family when we are there.
We have always gotten plenty of delicious food. The fajitas are excellent. I have sampled all over the menu and really like everything. The ground taco meat is not a specialty, but the fajita beef and chicken are both great and are used in many different items.
My wife almost always gets a chile relleno. They are great, maybe the best in town. Some prefer the chicken and some the beef.
Always plenty of fresh chips and good home made salsa. If you like those one-of-a-kind hole-the-wall Mexican food you should try Sr. Fajitas when you are in Tulsa.
And if you like books the largest used book store I have ever seen is in the...
