Read moreUnless you are well versed in the variations of Chinese cuisine, menu pictures are vital for making a good decision. The New Royal Dragon’s meals commence with a Chinese equivalent of chips and salsa. A warm plum dipping sauce and fried wonton wrapper chips are provided to keep you occupied while the food is prepared. The service is fast. Very fast. The soup that comes with the lunch special, will be there before you have had no more than a few bites of the chips. Our choice of soup, “hot and sour” was not the best in flavor compared to other versions we have had. For the meal, we focused on the familiar, less risky items of the Lunch Special list, Kung Pao Chicken and The General’s Chicken. Both came with a large and good tasting, egg roll. Not a lot of descriptive effort is needed for these common Chinese meals. Simply Good! New Royal Dragon summary: big menu of familiar Chinese food and sides, fast service, fair value on the lunch specials, overall, another 4-star comparable Chinese restaurant. More inessential guidance……… to assist in selecting a tasty Chinese meal! Back to my initial point. Check the menu picture of the Chinese food to make sure there are no chicken feet visible on the plate. Next critical criterion. If the protein was alive, and it escaped, and was found living among Oklahoma’s pristine flora and fauna, would it be considered an invasive species? If you are comfortable with information that you have ascertained, proceed to the final and decisive factor, the method of preparation. Is the protein raw, in a soup/broth, stir fried or is it breaded and deep fried? Raw, in a soup, or broth, well… That’s an edgy call. You are on your own with that decision. Stir fried, a preparation style that might be to your liking. However! If it is unrecognizable, breaded and deep fried, put chili sauce on it and “Eat It!” Who cares...
Read more(From July 2017) - This was my first time dining with Royal Dragon, but other members of our party had been to the previous location many times. The owners immediately welcomed their recognized customers with inquiries about things they had shared previously. The point is our experience began at the door. Very friendly owners and staff make for the beginning of a good dining experience. It appeared to me that Royal Dragon wants their customers to feel welcomed. (But not bothered) All of our entrees were superb. I distinctly remember the Egg Foo Young being amazing. I saved what I thought was best (food item) for last. The Peking Duck!. It is not on the menu, but it was suggested to me, when I requeste our server for a recommendation of something unique to try. It was very good. Crisp, Savory, Sweet, Delicate.... All the adjectives that should accompany this difficult to find (at a restaurant) delicacy. ( Also 'props' to the chef for the effort it takes to make this difficult dish). I am from out of town, and have retuned for a visit. I will be going out of my way to enjoy Royal Dragon again while I am here, and likely again...
