Not gonna waste time getting to the point, the Sunrise Potatoes suck. Order fries, regular hash browns, or substitute with something, steamed Brussel sprouts, oatmealâŠanything. If you like traditional hash browns or home fries you will be throwing rocks at these potatoes. Ok I said itâŠ. I could ramble on with a colorful anecdote; just look at the pictures. They donât even look good. Dark, gloomy chunks of spuds. Yeah, there is always that one guyâŠsorry I didnât like âem.
Well then, The restaurant is a clean, bright, well-staffed, well ran establishment, offering a wide selection of breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. Healthy options, a little Mexican version of breakfast and the good olâ standard American diner breakfast. A little of everything.
Dragging a little? There is an attractive adult beverage list, with elixirs suitable for that Saturday morning recovery. You know, when you need some of the âhair of the dog the bit you!â
I love eggs Benedict, but they are a pain in the arse to make at home. It is the perfect breakfast out meal. Sunrise Café eggs Benedict was good. Two perfectly poached eggs, stacked on a English muffin, ham, a tomato slice (odd but good) all under a decent Hollandaise Sauce. Push the Sunrise Potatoes aside, eat the fruit! Not bad!
I think my wife must have wanted Mexican food for breakfast. She ordered The "El Jefeâ bowl. Three eggs scrambled, chorizo, avocado, green chilies, onions and sour cream all cunningly arranged to hide those Sunrise Potatoes on the bottom of the bowl. Actually, the seasoned Sunrise Potatoes were tolerable with the Mexican flavors of The El Jefe Bowl. Unfortunately, the unappetizing looking avocado slices, were past their retirement age, showing a few black spots. Other than that, âŠnot to bad.
In summaryâŠ..Order Hash Browns!!!
A guide to Spikeâs inconsistently applied, subjective rating system. 1-Star âthis place shouldnât even be in business.â 2-Stars âI just wish I hadnât gone there.â 3-Stars âOk, but I wonât be back.â 4-Stars âI will be back.â And 5-Stars âan establishment nominated for Spikeâs Favorite listâ

Read moreThis has been my go-to place for breakfast and brunch for some time now. I usually go there for the blueberry pancakes and breakfast bowls.
In my last visit, I decided to go out of my comfort zone to try the corned beef hash egg benedict with my usual pancakes. I thought to myself, âMaybe this cafe wonât be like other brunch places that serve the canned corned beef hash because it expresses its pride in serving pure homemade food, and the other food I had before was awesome.â I also saw that the description omitted the word âhashâ and I thought that the kitchen actually would use homemade corned beef without the potato (since I thought itâd be kind of redundant to have the potato part when the benedict meals come with a side of house potatoes). The only way the corned beef hash was homemade was the canned stuff touching the griddle in their kitchen. There was no mistaking the almost paste-like consistency of the meat, uniform tiny potato cubes, and the insane saltiness of the whole shebang. I know I can make the canned stuff better in my kitchen because I at least know how to crisp up and brown the meat and potatoes properly, so it was disappointing for me because one, they served it at all, and two, it was cat food mush.
Despite that unfortunate shortcoming, I do enjoy going there for the blueberry pancakes. I am uncertain of another cafe that does its pancakes the way Sunrise makes them, and I hope they continue to be made that way. I am writing this review in the hopes that this cafe abides by its exceptional standards of homemade food, because otherwise, I think Sunrise looks like any other cafe in town as far as the corned beef hash goes. Itâs one thing to have it offered only as a side, and itâs another to feature it in a few new main courses that are around $13 when the regular can goes for less than $4. I guess I will have to go to Black Bear Diner for its corned beef hash that isnât from a Hormel/generic brand can. Iâm not mad, just...
Read moreThis is an amazing restaurant in the heart of South Tulsa. Open for breakfast and lunch daily. There is plenty of seating for any group size. The staff are amazing and very helpful some of the best Iâve seen lately. Thereâs plenty of different food types to fit any picky eater. If you canât find something to eat here itâs not going to happen. For the drinks, they have the standard coffee menu, the seasonal coffees, the fresh squeeze juices, and the homemade energy drinks along with the normal soft drinks. we went for breakfast one early Sunday morning and started off with an apple delight, which is an apple and pastry sweet dessert treat. I got the Okie omelette which comes with a side as I chose biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was very good, but the gravy seemed powder made. The Okie omelette comes with sausage, bacon and cheese then smothered with gravy along with a side of hashbrowns also smothered in gravy. You canât get better than this, especially if you live in Oklahoma. My wife got the Monterey bacado bowl which is bacon, avocado, egg, and Monterey Jack cheese with sour cream and salsa. This was also very good reminiscing of a California style meal. I also got the morning sunrise drink, which is orange juice, lemon juice, turmeric, ginger, agave nectar and beets. This place is amazing and I wish I wouldâve known about it sooner. We will...
