Some highlights but still a bit disappointing and felt somewhat misleading, a lot of potential!!
I should start off by saying that when we actually got our food, it was good. If you’re getting takeout and the food is the same quality that we got, I would recommend this spot.
The issues I had were with service and a charge they don’t list on their menu, particularly for hookah.
SERVICE: Even though the staff were VERY nice, they completely forgot about TWO of our food orders. At the end, they also mistakenly charged us for items we didn’t purchase on the final bill.
SERVICE CHARGE: They charge an automatic 18% service fee. There are normally charges like that at hookah places, but for the service we got, it wasn’t warranted and it doesn’t mention an automatic charge on the menu. We also weren’t a big party at all, just four.
To be fair, the gentleman mentioned to me that that counts as the tip, but, as I said, we may not have felt that 18% was automatically warranted.
I’m not sure if it applies to dining in for food as well or if it’s just hookah, but mentioning the charge on the menu would be preferred.
With the service we got and mistakes that were made, I would have also at least liked to see more of some kind of comp. I was asked if I wanted to take an extra baklava home (expensive for what you get by the way, $5 for one small piece!), very kind, but you’ve gotta just GIVE that instead of asking after service like that!
Pros: Food was good, hookah was good, staff were very nice.
Cons: Iffy service and what felt like surprise charges.
This place has a lot of potential. If they are more forward with their pricing and exact with their service, then my rating would change to a at least a four out of five for sure. With these things in mind, I would ultimately still recommend this spot! Just remember the fees and stay on top of...
Read moreTake the negative comments from others on Yelp very seriously! It is the same thing you will see over and over: bad service, rude behavior etc.
I feel there are a lot of fake reviews on google trying to keep the rating high, while on yelp you see a lot more negative comments talking about the same experience
We were a regular customer and we went there like others because there are not many hookah places in the vicinity. We always ate food there and I actually liked their falafel. This place in terms of the service is horrible, they never check on you and never get a basic service. You have to get up yourself and bring salt or napkins etc. You have to always ask and sometimes it takes a long while to get something simple you asked for, but the last time we were treated horribly with a very rude and bad tone. We talked to the manager about how one of the employees treated us and it added to our shock; he did not even apologize for what happened, and he even mentioned something that was stupid and racist that I cannot mention here. I asked my friend to leave the place ASAP and never come back and just comment and warn people about our experience. That incident hit me so much that I felt very bad for many days. I am still very surprised they...
Read moreCafe America: come in and enjoy a plate of hummus and falafel, while sipping on lukewarm mint tea as you periodically puff on a hookah like the Alice in Wonderland caterpillar.
I haven't tried much of their menu items, so this review won't cover the food quality. I strictly visit cafe America to hang out with friends and smoke some hookah. The place is located in a business complex; however, it's easy to spot from the main street.
After going a few times, you'll quickly notice many of the same faces out having a good time with their friends. The business seems to be supported by the local middle eastern community. The atmosphere is lively, but not too loud either. They have Arabic music playing typically, which is a nice touch.
The smoking area is located on a cement patio outside the cafe. The seating area is clean and well kept. The outdoor seating has patio covers on the top as well as shades on the sides, so you can comfortably enjoy your hookah during the winter time as well.
The hookah quality is good and they have many flavors to choose from. I typically get the apple head instead of the standard clay/ceramic bowl. Prices are comparable to other...
