Off The Boat Fish Grill is located off of 17th street in Tustin, near a group of small businesses, restaurants and a central parking lot. If you or your group are in the mood for a little Baja Mexican and/or Mediterranean food, then this is a great place for you! Want a fish taco, gyro and kebob? No problem. The restaurant offers a variety salads, charbroiled plates, bowls, wraps and tacos, featuring everything from fish, chicken, steak to lamb; just so many choices and combos!
The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated and the staff, warm and inviting. Walking in I was greeted, and the staff was quick and proud to direct me to their favorite choice menu items.
Once our group ordered, we were seated. Within minutes, fresh nachos and salsa were delivered to our table, to snack on. The salsa was perfect and I had to watch to make sure I didn't fill up on chips before the meal would arrive.
I ordered the favorite Carnitas plate. I found the portions to be generous with large amounts of meat, rice and beans. The salad and dressing were tasty, but I found myself wanting a bit more of these greens. The carnitas were favorably grilled and moist. The rice and beans made the perfect side combination. I only found myself wishing I could eat more, just to try some of the other dishes. All looked cooked and presented wonderfully. As we dined, about halfway through our meal, the staff came by to ensure that our meals were as expected. Customer service here was very good.
Walking out the door, this would definitely be on the list as a place to return. I just can't wait to try of bit of Mediterranean on...
Read moreWhat's Good: Filet Mignon Wrap is very good. The meat is very tender and well marinated. Chicken Kabob, either as a wrap or platter is also a good choice. Make sure you ask for the garlic sauce, goes well with the Chicken Kabob (but very good on it's own too so mixes well with a lot of things). Chips and Guac is a good appetizer - the guac is better than average, very fresh. Grilled Mahi Salad is a good choice is you're looking for something healthier.
If you look at the menu, there's a red star next to "Must Have Items" - pretty accurate.
Salsa bar is fantastic. Pico de Gallo is very mild and the Diablo is pretty hot. Both go well with chips and Diablo goes well with everything. The Pickled Habanero Onions is also spicy, and super good even on it's own. The Tarter Sauce is good with seafood (Spicy version is Diablo mixed in).
Things to Try: Lobster Puerto Nuevo is something the owner raved about and we really want to try it. Looks so good. It's a dine-in only item.
Other Notes: perfect takeout spot. Order on Yelp, get in the car and it'll be ready by the time you get there. Super quick. Moe, the owner, is a good dude. Chopped it up with him a couple of times and he's super personable...

We were in town for a sports event and looked up local restaurant reviews—so glad we found this place!
Fresh Off the Boat not only uses high-quality ingredients but also prepares them in unique and flavorful ways, offering a diverse menu with something for everyone. I had the barramundi plate with veracruzano sauce, which had just the right kick, plus a side of garlic sauce—delicious! The grilled veggies were perfectly seasoned, and the salad with lemon oregano dressing was fresh and vibrant. My husband enjoyed the Cajun seafood tortilla soup, tossing in some of my rice for extra heartiness. My son devoured three fish tacos, and they shared an order of fried calamari and hummus with pita—all of it fantastic.
Beyond the great food, the service was exceptional. The staff answered all my (many!) questions and accommodated substitutions to fit my keto dietary needs. A man who seemed to be the owner was actively helping his team and personally checked in with every table, ensuring everyone had a great experience.
To top it all off, the pricing was very reasonable, making this spot an even better find.
Highly recommend Fresh Off the Boat in Tustin—we’ll...
