Save your time and money and go to Don Juan’s. Highly disappointed. I’ve never paid $90 for Mexican food anywhere, especially locally. Especially for only four meals and water. Twin Falls and the surrounding areas have better options for Mexican food. First of all the chips and salsa were extremely bland. The salsa tasted like ketchup, the refried beans were so watered down and bland. Not to mention we were charged for extra for chips and salsa . I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant where they charge you for the courtesy chips they bring out to you. For dinner we ordered four main entrees. First, an order of sopes(11.95) which were served without beans and rice which isn’t typical for a Mexican restaurant. The portions were small and not very filling. My partner ordered the camarones a la crema ($21.99)which are normally served with beans and rice and the choice of flour or corn tortillas. The dish was served with white rice. The rice was spread out to make the ilusión that there was more on the plate than there really was. It was an about less than 1/2 cup of rice. The rice itself was flavorless. We were disappointed that the portions were so small and we didn’t receive any tortillas. My daughter ordered the green chicken enchiladas (17.99)which barley had any chicken inside. They were more like frozen taquito size. The sauce had some flavor but the bland rice and watered down beans ruined it. Last, we ordered a plain quesadilla with cheese. Which was $13. This place is anything but traditional...
Read moreI can not with this place . I am a avid Mexican food lover this place was so disappointing in so many ways . There was 0 flavor ,one of the things if you actually like authentic food you enjoy is flavor !this tasted like Becky's who's second cousin was Mexican so she is too made this . We ordered a few seperate dishes I had the birria tacos not only did it have like the smallest slops of meat imaginable full of fat on them and some mozzarella cheese nothing else no peppers no onion no cilantro no anything not even marinated into it or the consommé . I digress I also got a carne taco again terrible meat no seasoning jammed full of the dry and simultaneously chewy meat not even a pinch of cilantro or tomato or anything but meat and onion . My family ordered one of the massive burritos for 20 dollars he ate is out of obligation but tasted just like my carne taco but in abundance . Our children a enchilada and a burrito both shredded beef there was so much fat in these I'm not even kidding it was mostly fat and little other ingredients completely inedible unless I guess you're starving for your life I threw out most of this food and we paid 100 dollars in total for everything .I won't even get started on the horchata but have mercy go somewhere else how this had any good reviews I will not ever understand. I'm usually pretty calm about a mistake but all our meals no not in...
Read moreGoing against the recommendations of some Twin Falls natives, we decided to follow our instincts instead, and I'm so glad we did.
Don't get me wrong, I occasionally like the Americanized Mexican Food establishments, loads of melted cheese over every entree. But that night we wanted something more authentic, and Jarrito's served it up in spades.
We had excellent friendly service, and our order came out super quick. Everything was super fresh, simple ingredients, and just right.
The horchata tasted home made, so we got a second. I got three beef enchiladas in a chile verde sauce. Again, very simple, and just the right amount of seasoning, sauce, cheese, etc. It came with a side of rice and refried beans. The beans were delicious, and the rice was very authentic. Perfectly prepared in chicken broth, fluffy and hot.
My wife got a trio of tacos: chicken, carnitas, and carne asada. My only complaint of the entire meal: the chicken taco was lacking in moisture. The chicken was cooked just right, not dry, but the assembly needed some sauce to make it go down more smoothly. The other two tacos were amazingly flavorful.
The prices were very reasonable, and I'll definitely stop in again next time...
