I have been waiting So long to eat at the Bartellinos at Twin Oaks. It took them forever to open and I have been so excited. We were there on Sunday after Valentine's Day. It was crowded and somewhat noisy but our entrees were very good. I was very surprised to note that you had to pay extra $8 for a salad , especially with the price of the entrees. The creme brulee was delicious but it was only about a fourth of an inch thick. That was the teeniest amount of creme brulee I've ever had in a restaurant. The canoli's were okay , except the one with the mascarpone was not good at all. There were seven adults in our party and two children. 6 of the adults had an entree. And one of the adults had a pizza. Six of the adults had a before dinner drink and two of the adults had an appetizer. Two of the adults also ordered a dessert and two of the adults ordered coffee. Well, I got the bill and I was very confused that there was a twenty percent table charge on the bill. The bill was over six hundred dollars and I couldn't figure out what a twenty percent table charge was. We called the waitress over and she explained that when there is a party of five or more they put a twenty percent gratuity on. I am perfectly fine with them putting a gratuity on my bill but it should be stated gratuity and not table charge. Had I not paid close attention to my bill I would have tipped an additional twenty percent. This seems a little sketchy to me and I'm not sure why they are using the term table charge. But I found the food to be good and Our waitress was wonderful. But the prices are outrageous for the small amount of food and since when does a salad not come with an entree. I also Noticed that the prices at Twin Oaks were between one and three dollars more for the same entree at Bartelino's south. I won't be returning. This is extremely...
Read moreI have been a decades long customer of Bartolinos, particularly Bartolinos South, so it pains me a bit to have to write this review. Especially since my Italian family, particularly my father, knew the Saracinos back in the day. I have to say that Twin Oaks did not meet my expectations. The service was spot on. The restaurant is beautiful. Before going, I did compare the south menu to the Twin Oaks menu. For the most part exactly the same menu except that the prices at the twin Oaks restaurant are 1 to 3 dollars higher for the same items. Also know that a dinner salad no longer comes with entrées. I ordered the broccolini and eggplant as a side. What little broccolini there was, was so tough I could barely cut it. Our waiter quickly brought me the pasta with red sauce side. So much red pepper, again I couldn’t eat it. I have had Bartolino’s marinara millions of times. I never remember it being so heavy on red pepper. Our waiter quickly brought me the white sauce pasta as a side. It was fine, just very underwhelming. Chicken Modiga was good. but nothing special. If Bartolino’s is going to charge those types of prices, I expect something out of the ordinary. There are so many wonderful Italian restaurants to choose from in this city, but Barts was always at the top of my list. However, If you’re serving standard fair Italian, (never a bad thing) then you need to charge standard prices. I will not be returning to Twin Oaks. I will head to Bartolinos south again, hopefully it will be as good as I...
Read moreWe recently held a private party at Bartolino's Italian restaurant, and the entire experience was absolutely extraordinary. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Not only did they accommodate our vegan guests’ dietary restrictions, but they excelled in crafting a truly gourmet six-course dinner with wine pairings that impressed everyone in attendance. Each dish was a masterpiece—delicious, flavorful, and refined. The wines were thoughtfully paired, and the staff added an extra special touch by coming into the private room to describe the food and wine. They shared fascinating details and history about each wine, which elevated the dining experience to a whole new level. The atmosphere was upscale and inviting, the service impeccable, and every element far exceeded our expectations. After exploring many high-end restaurants in St. Louis, we are so thrilled we chose Bartolino's. Everything—the food, the service, the wine, and the ambiance—was outstanding and performed far beyond what we imagined. We can't recommend Bartolino's enough for anyone seeking an unforgettable event or dining experience. They truly set the standard for excellence. Bravo,...
