C Rojos Taqueria — Restaurant in Tyler

I finally tried brussel sprouts after 37 years😂

I was out running errands today with my wife and we couldn’t decide on something for lunch. We were passing C Rojo's Taqueria on Broadway and both decided at roughly the same time that this is where we were having lunch.

We walked up to the front counter to place our order and we were instantly greeted by a kind young lady. We had a few questions about the menu and she easily answered all of our questions with a smile. She also made a few really good suggestions as well.

We ended up deciding on the Brussels Bowl with shrimp and the Machete Quesadilla (it’s basically a quesadilla the size of a football).

We sat down at our table and within 3 to 4 minutes, the waitress brought out some chips and salsa. If you haven’t had the salsa, it’s amazing!!!

About 5 minutes later, our food arrived. The first thing I tried was the brussel sprouts. The texture was a bit different to me, but the flavor was soooooo good. I’d definitely eat them again. I then tried the shrimp and I have to admit, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned as well.

My wife and I split the quesadilla and we still had leftovers. We chose carne asada as our meat. It was very juicy and tender. It was also seasoned quite well. The quesadilla was full of melted cheese and beans. We got the pickled onions on the side, which is also something I tried for the first time. I loved them!!!

Up until today, I’ve always ordered their wagyu burger and I’ve tried a few different tacos from them. I definitely have some new options to choose from in the future. I highly recommend stopping by and trying some of their excellent...

When you place your order and receive 80% of it and then ask multiple times for the remained of your order and are told they have to complete the door dash orders and drove through orders before they can give you the rest of your one order, and you wait for 30 minutes to receive it and then have to give up and leave, you come back and change your review to reflect the horrible service you experienced. Don't think we'll return after this. There was one couple there when we came in (and they were having to fix their messed up order) and a table of 6 came in shortly after we ordered and sat down. I do not understand why our order would not have been completed and why the table after us, the 2 cars that went through the drive thru, and the door dash orders placed after ours were all of a sudden more important than completing our order that we planned to eat with our meal. We ate all of our food and were waiting to leave and were still being told they had to complete other orders before giving us the remainder of our order. This was more 30 minutes of waiting for the remainder of our order. The math...

I’ve been meaning to try C Rojos Taqueria for some time. I was intrigued because they have a machete quesadilla on their menu, and I love the texture of a crispy grilled masa!

Photo one shows their set up. It's an expensive dish, but it was a whole lot of food. I could only eat half of it, and ate the other half today for lunch.

Photo number two shows 'under the hood'. I got mine as al pastor, and you can see, they didn't skimp a bit!

They had a red sauce that I got that was smoky. I'm pretty sure it was a Morita pepper sauce. It was absolutely the perfect compliment to the al pastor. I should also add that the rice had a mild delicious flavor too!

There’s so much wonderful flavor here! I'd have to give these guys a 10 out of 10! This place is in a gas station on South Broadway between Target and Kohl's.
