Disappointed by Inflexible Management and Poor Customer Service
As a long-time loyal customer and frequent group order organizer, I'm saddened to write this review. I've been a fan of Sunright Tea Studio for years, consistently bringing business both personally and through company orders. Until today, we've never experienced any issues.
This afternoon at 2:30 PM, I visited the store when it was completely empty of other customers. I intended to order two Sunright Fruit teas but accidentally ordered one Sunright Fruit tea and one Strawberry Jasmine tea. Immediately upon realizing my mistake, I asked the barista, Skylar, if she had started making the drinks. When she confirmed she hadn't, I politely requested to change my order.
What followed was deeply disappointing. Skylar checked with her supervisor, Tiffany, who came out only to point at their "no substitution after purchase" policy on the wall. Despite the drinks not being made yet, the store being empty, and my history as a regular customer, there was zero flexibility. Tiffany's response was cold and rigid, offering no solution except to pay for an entirely new drink.
What troubles me most isn't the policy itself, but how it was handled. As a supervisor, Tiffany represents Sunright Tea Studio's brand values and customer service philosophy. Her approach was disappointingly inflexible and showed little regard for customer satisfaction. There was no attempt to find a middle ground or acknowledge the circumstance - just a cold reference to policy.
In today's competitive Bay Area bubble tea market, customer experience matters as much as product quality. While I've enjoyed Sunright's drinks for years, this incident highlights a concerning attitude toward customer service. A brand is built not just on its products, but on its people and how they treat customers.
To Sunright Tea Studio's management: Please consider that your supervisors are the face of your brand. Every employee interaction shapes customer perception, especially at the leadership level. While your drinks remain good, today's experience has made me question whether I want to continue supporting a business that shows so little consideration for customer satisfaction.
Sometimes it's not about the product - it's about the brand. Sometimes it's not about the flavor - it's about the people representing your business. Today's experience fell far short of what I've come to expect from...
Read moreI reviewed the other location a year ago and asked for an East Bay location and they actually listened!!
I've tried: Sunright boba milk tea, 25% sweet Oolong creme brûlée latte, 50% sweet Mango milk tea, 50% sweet Strawberry jasmine tea, 50% sweet Cream pudding milk tea, 50% sweet
All of these were very good, but the standout is the boba pearls. They're sweetened to the right amount and have the perfect QQ texture - not too soft on the outside, has a good chewy bite and the center has the right level of springiness. I just felt very satisfied eating the boba! Lol who knew that boba could be so particular?
The strawberry jasmine tea was surprisingly bitter for the sweetness level, but I didn't mind it too much, since the strawberry bits made it taste fresh. Their milk teas have a creamier texture than other milk tea shops, but you can taste the tea which I appreciate. Their cream pudding tastes rich and vanilla-y! 50% is a good sweetness level for those to like "not too sweet" but I'd drop it to 25% for drinks with boba since the boba is already sweetened.
This is a great location because it's a little closer to Hayward which I feel is lacking in good boba spots. Definitely online order if you can! Glad they have...
Read moreSunright is one of the better Boba spots in the Bay Area and it's definitely a must visit.
The quality seems to be consistent with their different locations.
I've had the opportunity to try most things on the menu but my favorite is the grape frosty, which unfortunately seems to be a seasonal item.
The menu is extensive enough to where there should be something for everyone as there are your more traditional choices, as well as, some fusion (East meets West), creative new drinks.
Sunright uses high quality ingredients, many of which are locally sourced in California. And yes, you can absolutely tell the difference! This is also because they don't cut corners and costs during the prep.
The staff is always on top of things and even when there are long lines, they always work diligently and quickly while maintaining the high quality standard.
The location itself is small, narrow, and it's pretty much a grab and go at the moment but the decor matches the theme.
If you haven't heard of Sunright, definitely give it a go and you'll be...
