Charles F. Kennedy Park in Union City has something for everyone. This gigantic playground has so much to do! In the center is a small Golden Gate Bridge model with two slides coming down the middle. To one side is a big play area with 7(!!) slides (3 doubles), so many stairs and ladders, monkey bars, a rock wall, a couple of smaller bridges, and a fort with a western theme. On this side, there is also a herd of rocking horses (literally there are so many), a swing set (mostly standard with one bucket), a stand-on rolling balancer, and even more rocking toys that look like train cars.
On the other side is a smaller playground with one slide, a couple of steps, a ladder, a snacking table, a rock wall, and a climbing ramp. This side also has a bucket swing and an all abilities swing (no straps).
This park has elements of California history along with facts and information on different industries in the state. All the surf boards around the playground perimeter have something to read and learn from.
Along with this awesome playground, this park has lots of sidewalks for walking, grass for picnicking or kicking ball, a cluster of picnic tables with bbqs, a basketball court (with net), horseshoe pits, and a covered amphitheater (covered slab of concrete).
There were locked bathrooms and other onsite buildings including a teen center and preschool. BART tracks are right above the edge of the park near the playground and train tracks just across the road.
If you GPS to this park, the parking lot may be closed. Another parking lot can be found where 13th St meets J St (and it’s actually closer to...
Read moreDue to Covid-19 most parks are closed. The park itself could really use a groundsman and keep the restrooms unlocked especially for the children. I don't really understand why most playgrounds are closed when dog parks, outdoor fitness areas, baseball diamonds basketball courts etc is open. If this is a deadly virus like they are making it sound shouldn't all lakes, parks & playgrounds be closed? I see lots of kids & teens playing basketball softball volley ball soccer at lots of parks and if they can do that without wearing a mask then they can go to...
Read moreGreat park to bring the kids, walk or have a party. The jungle gym is San Francisco, California theme. It has a pretty cool bridge to walk on, lots of slides and there plenty of benches and picnic tables parents can sit at whole kid play. Plenty of parking around the park, near community center on Meyers, there's a back lot near baseball field and street parking on eleventh (I think). There are public bathrooms, but like most the soap dispenser is or near empty and there's no paper towels available. Be sure to have hand...
