Wow, just wow. Where do I start?
The tomato cream sauce (their red sauce mixed with their alfredo) had my eyes rolling back into my head. I had it with the spaghetti and meatballs for something a little different than I usually get at Italian restaurants.
The chicken romano was great as well, but not quite as good. The exterior breading was very tasty, but the chicken itself was too bland once you got past that outer layer. I think it would better if they marinated it in something so that the actual chicken has some flavor. I will say that it was perfectly cooked and juicy, though.
The plain red sauce I got with my side of rigatoni was also very nice. It wasn't too watery and had depth, unlike some other places I've ate at. I'm used to having to smother my pasta in cheese to get that "je ne sais quoi", but I barely used any here. Can't complain about the garlic toast, either.
The service was about average; it was neither overly good nor shockingly bad. Our waitress had a bit of RBF and didn't seem too thrilled to be there. Everything was correct with the order and she answered all the questions we had, so she did her job just fine, but nothing beyond that.
The place is a bit dated but it doesn't matter as much because the food absolutely hits. They could have served me that food in a basement and it probably still would've smacked. The bathroom was well-kept as well.
Oh, and I ate everything in the picture minus some of the garlic bread because only half was mine. ;)
Update:
Had to visit again! I got the alfredo this time and it was really good; the little herby additions were a nice compliment to the sauce. I recommend trying it with meatballs and sausage. Our server - Megan - was great and she provided perfect...
Read moreThe inside is dingy and outdated. Not in like a oh wow this is historic kind of way, more like a it's on its way to being a dive kind of way. The waitress we had was pretty good, though wait times for nearly everything was kind of long. And then at the end when we got our bill, we weren't told where to pay, we had to go off what we overheard her tell a nearby table. So we went to the bar to pay, a worker was in there and he said I'll be right with you. Proceeded to continue doing other stuff then walk away entirely. Multiple staff members observed us and another person waiting to pay and just passed by. None of them bothering to stop and take our payment. Finally someone came in to take our payment, but it took forever. As far as the food, my wife didn't enjoy the lasagna at all. There's almost no Ricotta in it. It's almost entirely sausage, yes not ground beef, sausage which is not stated on the menu. The noodles have a gross texture. Just not good. She did say the sauce and cheese was good. The salads and dressings were both good as well. They were out of what I asked for but it took her like 15 minutes after I ordered to come out and tell me they didn't have what I ordered. So I got Penne with tomato cream sauce and "hot" Italian sausage. There was nothing hot about the sausage. It was dry, and not very good. The noodles tasted store bought. The sauce however was fantastic. Definitely my favorite part of the meal. The bread came out cold and tastes store bought as well. I had high hopes for this place being a staple of the community, but I was disappointed and won't be returning. My wife can cook better than they did and for a...
Read moreI understand that every dining experience can vary, but our visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. We arrived around 1 p.m. on a Sunday with a group of four adults, three kids, and one baby. We were seated upstairs in a carpeted room furnished with folding tables and chairs, which gave off a rather odd and temporary vibe.
The Food: We ordered a variety of dishes, including chicken parm, stuffed chicken, wedding soup, fish, chicken tenders, jumbo shrimp, salad, and bread. Unfortunately, the quality was consistently underwhelming. Most of the food was lukewarm at best, and the fries were served cold. Nearly everything tasted like it came from a frozen dinner package. The fried fish for the kids was flavorless, and the fries had that unmistakable oven-baked frozen taste. The chicken parm lacked seasoning/taste, and the salad was limp and soft—as if it had been sitting out for some time. The bread resembled something store-bought from Giant Eagle, lacking any freshness or restaurant-quality appeal.
Service: Our waitress was kind, but she was noticeably sniffly the entire time, which was off-putting. She also wasn’t particularly attentive throughout the meal.
The Positives: We were seated quickly, and there was convenient parking right beside the building. The restrooms were clean, and the staff overall was friendly.
Bottom Line: If you're searching for a hidden gem with quality food, off the beaten path, this isn't it. You’d be better off choosing a different place to dine. Take a...
