DISCLAIMER (that they do not share with you): I think it should be shared that the beach is unusable and it is unbearable to be outside anywhere on the grounds! I know that the seaweed is not the resort's fault but we saw other resorts that had the seaweed cleared so I'm not sure why Margaritaville did not have the same. My partner and I planned to be able to sit on a beach together and did not rent a car since we thought we'd just be staying at the resort and decompressing the whole time. Instead, we were met with that terrible stench and were unable to use the beach or pools or sit on our patio because of it. We couldn't even sit at the outdoor bar too long because it was nauseating. We were incredibly disappointed and think we should have had some disclaimer ahead of time. This was a complete waste of our time and money.
The resort itself is nice... it was clean and the staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable. If you are just looking for a place to sleep and then go exploring, than this is a nice place to stay. However, if you are looking to relax on a beach at a resort, I would look elsewhere (or call ahead and ask if they have cleared the piles of dead seaweed).
It is not close to much (there is a lovely little bar just down from the beach at Margaritaville and the smell isn't so bad there) so if you are planning on going out to eat anywhere but at the resort, you will need to rent a car or use taxis (which they have plenty of right at the resort and never take more than a few minutes to get...
Read moreWe are staying on the resort. So we decided to have dinner there. We had a party of 12 and got there early to get seated about 615 pm. Only one other table was seated when we got there. We all order and it took 45 min for our food to come out. All but one meal. Everyone got there food except they forgot one meal.. we had to find our waitress to let her know because she hasn't come back to the table since she took our order. Not even for drink refills. Finally the brought out the missing meal when everyone else was done eating. .. still havent gotten drink refills. So 2 people In. Our part order dessert. After we had to go to front desk to get a dessert menu ourselves. So we wait for 30 min for dessert. It's been 2 hours now and we are getting frustrated. So we go and talk to the manager and explain what bad service we are getting and she basically told us sorry we are doing our best. Then the desert comes out and it's been 2 1/2 hours now. We finish and had to find our waitress to get a bill . Which they already added 18% gratuity. She gave us our bill but never came back to pick it up. So we went to the manager again to ring us out and complain and she acted like she had never dealt with us before. Never offered any compensation or anything. Just said sorry we are busy... not good enough. We will never go back. Gave one star because...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here over the past five+ years and I’ve got to say, the last 2-3 years there’s been a noticeable decline in food quality and portions with the typical “get less, sub-par quality and charge you more” perhaps to make up for declining profits and blame inflation.
We ordered the calamari from the poolside bar and it came out looking like it had been regurgitated from a pelican. Come on people, if you don’t have the quality to serve, don’t insult people who are spending thousands to stay here by serving up junk.
It seems they’re cutting costs as they won’t even give out plastic cups from the bar, and the prizes offered by winning resort games such as bingo were once full bottles of rum and now a measly bar drink, but not a “you call it” drink, but a coke, sprite or black cherry rum. Gee, thanks Margaritaville, you’re too kind!
On a positive note, the rooms are killer, most people on site are great. But again, treat your guests with respect as we’re spending a great deal of money to stay here and don’t insult us with cutting costs at the restaurants and trying to pass off terrible food.
But just like anything on this island, they’ll ignore the people and keep doing what they’re doing and people will stay...
