The food is okay and the server constantly tried to up-sell us, which wasn't very pleasant. The best thing on the menu was the walnut & red pepper dip. It was VERY good. Everything else was just okay and the prices are high for the quality and quantity. The current rating of over 4 stars doesn't make sense to me.
My original review of this restaurant was a bit harsh because I was looking forward to a 4.5-star experience, and what I received was very disappointing. One example was when I asked the server what kind of nuts were in the baklava, and she said it was 100% pistachio with no other nuts. What I received was walnut baklava, with raw uncooked dough, very little flavor, and a few shavings of pistachio on top.
In my opinion, the atmosphere and service deserve 2 stars. The food deserves 3 stars. My main objective in writing this review is to warn people like myself that you may not receive the quality of food or service at this establishment that you'd expect from the reviews that have been posted here or on Yelp. I would recommend that potential patrons read the owner’s replies to 1- and 2-star reviews before deciding whether to dine at this restaurant. That alone would have prevented me from going in the first place. If you're already in the parking lot, I recommend that you try Srida Thai. They have good food and good customer service. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean, try Cafe Moderno down the street. If you're looking for really good food and service, and are willing to pay more, Spaggi's...
Read moreGood food and great service. Although the food was a bit pricey, there was no doubt that it was fresh. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. Chicken kabob and rice plate was delicious. The kabob was made from breast meat and was very juicy. The hummus with meat was also very tasty. My one complaint is the kibbeh. We ordered it for the table, but they're sold per piece so make sure you order enough for each person to get one. The price tag is high... $2/each and they're there size of a golf ball. That would still be fine if they were cooked properly. Ours came significantly over fried—to the point that it was very hard and tasted burnt. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting. The waiter/host was very attentive and checked on us often to make sure we were okay and didn't need anything. The food came out relatively fast. All in all it was a pretty good experience, and I would recommend...
Read moreWe went for lunch, on a Tuesday when the weather was 104 degrees F, and there was heavy roadwork up and down their street. We happened to see Le Chef and just ducked in, with no expectations other than some quick food and a break from the heat. The restaurant had one other customer when we got there and he left! It felt sort of weird.
However…
Our young waitress was charming and attentive, and very prompt. We ordered the falafel plates and I got a side of baba ganoush. The falafels were crisp and light, very tasty. Came with a side of tahini, some lovely hummus, and a very fresh salad. The baba ganoush was smashing! Perfect amount of smoke and very creamy. Perfect for scooping with the warm pitas.
All in all, it was a great find. I just hope more folks can find their way to Le Chef for lunch. This place deserves a full house at lunch! The food and service were great. Go...
