Sigh.. when I eat out, especially atban established chain restaurant I expect good service, good hot food, and good management. Well, one out of three is unacceptable. Food was downright cold and the young server was well, cold as well. Not what I expect from a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Unfortunately, for this particular location it has been steadily declining over the past few years. First, we ordered our drinks. There was a new drink on the menu, watermelon lemonade. We both decided to try it. We also asked for some corn muffins . Several minutes later the server returned with the drinks and explained it would be 15 minutes for muffins. Being a Thursday evening with a decent crowd one would expect a sufficient supply of warm muffins as this is a staple to the chain. We then both sipped our watermelon lemonade. Awful! Just plain awful. No watermelon flavor let alone lemonaid. We asked to change them to a sweet tea for my wife and unsweetened for myself. The server said nothing but took our drinks and abruptly left. When he returned with our drinks heplaced the unsweetened with a spoon infront of me and the sweet with no spoon in front of my wife. She took a sip and found hers to be unsweet. At this point we both were beginning to become annoyed. My wife ordered the meatloaf dinner with collard greens, greenbeans, and coleslaw. I ordered the southern fried chicken with okra and baby carrots. When the food finally came the meatloaf was barely warm and greens and greenbeans were just room temperature. When the server returned my wife explained the food was cold. The server said he would take care of it. He left the meal on the table and departed. He returned several minutes later with a slab of meatlof on a plate. The meatloaf was about 2/3 the size of the original which was still on the table. We expected fresh sides as well but that wasn't the case. Now her sides were ice cold but the undersized meatloaf was actually warm... not hot, warm. So, being very irritated she asked to simply have the meal removed from our bill. The server seemed irritated as well but took the two plates of meatloaf and left. About 10 minutes later the manager came to our table with a meatloaf and sides which were obviously quite hot as we could see the steam coming of the plate. He was very polite and sincerely apologized. He explained he would fix the problem. He did not charge us for the meal which was acceptable. So, all in all is was a miserable experience but the manager did his best to make it better. Again, one...
Read moreI don't like leaving bad reviews; however, this is an acception.
We go to this cracker barrel frequently as we love the atmosphere and we have two children who love looking at the toys - we usually purchase stuff in the shop every time we go. Unfortunately, this might be the last time at this one...
March 1st, my family and my grandparents had breakfast there. We got in within 10 minutes (it was 9am) which is outstanding because morning time is usually busy of course, so I was impressed they moved so quickly!
We sat down, got our drinks and ordered our food within 5-10 minutes of sitting down. We got our drinks in a timely fashion, but the food took about 25-30 minutes. Again, we weren't mad and at all because we understand it's morning prime time. Completely fine.
It all went downhill when our waitress noticed my wife didn't receive her food, side, and my side which was for my son to eat when she first brought all of our food. She said she go back and check, perfect! No problem...Well.... She waited on other tables for a good 20 minutes before we had to FLAG HER DOWN and ask where my son's food, my wife's food and side were. She seemed utterly confused and asked what she ordered and said that the cooks probably didn't see it. Okay... She came back after going to other tables about 15-20 minutes later saying they're just making it now. Excuse me? It's past 10 o'clock and we don't have two simple sides and an easy pancake breakfast? We told her we aren't waiting for it and we want it to go. We were there over an hour and my wife and son were completely hungry and sick of waiting. She said she'd talk to her manager.. great!
She came back with our food in a bag. She took my wife's food off the bill and the side.. I looked at my watch and it was 10:26am receiving the check and our to go bag. It was an HOUR AND A HALF for two sides and a pancake breakfast...
The kicker was when we got home (about 11am) so my wife and son could finally eat, my wife's side was not right at all! Absolutely pathetic on every level.
Listen, I understand things happen but it took us multiple attempts to get our food and it took AN HOUR after you realize we don't have it?
We love it there and we've been there dozens and dozens of times; unfortunately, my family and my grandparents were very turned off by the...
Read moreTried to place an order to go online, was able to place all items in cart and then my credit card info, but when I went to place the order I received a message stating “uh oh an error occurred, so then I redid it all over again to this time get a message that stated “ uh oh an error occurred online orders can not be placed from midnight to midnight to call the store and place your order. I called the store to place the order selected option 3 to speak to someone and the person that answered the phone told me he would transfer me to take out, after 20 mins of waiting and then calling back multiple times for the take out option and no one answered I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. I spoke to the manager that told me they have no take out because they have only 2 servers and 1 cook. Maybe they should have this be told online that no takeout ordering for the day so that people don’t try to continue putting in their info thinking it’s something they did wrong and having to enter their info all over again to then tell you to call the store and they don’t answer. They should have a message when people call explaining they are under staffed and can not accept take out orders at the time instead of not answering the phones. Also would be helpful to inform your staff that answers the phones of this info instead of having them transfer you to take out when there’s no take out for the day. Management seems to have some organizing issues here. We completely can understand your understaffed and respect that, but also respect your customers and inform them vs having them waste their time by holding on the line and no answer or entering info online that will never work. Management could definitely improve...
