Last Saturday, June 22, my family and I had arranged to gather at Gracie's On West Main to celebrate my high school senior daughter's return visit with me (her mother) to her birth country of Guatemala for the 1st time since she was adopted as a baby. We came bearing some gifts to give to various family members, and since we don't all live together, and we didn't want her grandmother age 87 to have far to drive, we chose Gracie's on Main for our celebration, especially since my mother's name is Grace, AND she has never been to your restaurant since she doesn't treat herself by going out to eat. What a cool afternoon gathering at 3 pm was selected. I called in the morning at 0900 to see if we needed to reserve a table, mentioned we would be coming at 3 pm, and that since we were celebrating a graduation and giving some gifts it would be cool if we could be seated at the table in the separate room off from the main dining area (I have learned it is called table 11). I was told by the manager on duty that at that time it shouldn't be a problem to be seated there, unless a really large party came in at 3 and requested the same table. I was informed to call back at 2 pm to be placed on the waiting list and to request that table at that time. I did this at 2 pm and was told the same message: they have put us down for that table, and it will happen unless they get really busy at 3 pm and a larger party than ours requests the same table. We arrived at 2:55 pm. They had seated my mother before we arrived (not sure why they did that since the waitlist and arrangements were under my name.) They had her seated at a table right next to 2 other tables in the main dining room. I told the hostess that there must have been a mistake - and told her I had called twice and each time requested the table in the set apart room, and was told it was fine. There were NO OTHER customers at that time. The hostess scurried off in front of us, despite there being no rush of any other customers. My one daughter was indicating she needed the restroom, so another family member said they would wait for her. The hostess by then had disappeared with my mother. I found them in the adjoining dining room. She had sat my mother down at a table (beside the room with the set apart table #11), NOT AT table 11 for some reason.. I again said, "I think somehow there has been a miscommunication. It's that table and secluded room we requested since we have gifts to give, and this small table gives us nowhere to set our gifts. Is that a problem to honor our call ahead request? which I was told twice would be fine!" She grabbed the menus and plopped them down on table 11. I followed her to ask if everything was okay - wondering if it was a problem for them if we sat there. She turned her back and didn't respond. Another waitress came forward and said to the Caucasian snippy hostess - let them have table 11. There is no one else who needs and is requesting it. I'll wait on them. I don't see why they can't have that room and table as she requested. So, I put out the gifts at the various place settings according to whom they were for. My spouse arrived and he took a seat. We were waiting on my daughters, both Guatemalan, eager for this time of storytelling and gift giving from their birth country. My 17 year old daughter, the one whom this gathering was in honor of, the one who had just graduated from high school, the one who had just 5 days ago returned from her 1st visit to her birth country since a cute 7 month old baby - came to the table angry and crying, her face crumbled...
Read moreBack again (and again and again)... and once again, this is one of the best spots around! I'd give it another 5 stars if I could! They have just re-opened after a COVID shutdown like a lot of other places, but the food and especially the service didn't miss a beat. (Thanks, Eleanor! You rock!)
My family now has a new go-to spot for breakfast! Overall, the price is right for the portion size and excellent quality. If you want a filling breakfast that tastes great, you'll have plenty of options to choose from here. I recommend this place highly.
The place was busy as are most places on a weekend at breakfast time. However, we were quoted a wait time of only 15 minutes, and that's exactly what we got. They also have in place a system for texting your phone when your table is ready -- something that only large chains usually employ here in Lancaster.
The place is nicely decorated and very clean. We were greeted right away. I recommend getting a menu to review during the wait because there are quite a number of options to choose from. Their menu certainly isn't lacking. However, if you're a vegetarian, you might have a difficult time here. That's the only reason this place got 4 stars from me instead of five -- my daughter was looking forward to some homefries, but the menu said they were cooked with bacon fat. (She's vegetarian and not vegan, so eggs and the like are OK.) This place is bacon-centric, so be aware before coming here. EDIT: I didn't realize it, but the owner replied and said that they'd be happy to cook the homefries in a vegetarian-friendly way. So, I'm changing my review to now be 5 stars. Thanks to Gracie's for the reply!
Our server, Cara, was super-friendly. During our time here, she had come by our table numerous times to fill drinks and coffee. I always love a place where my cup never runs dry. Our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. It looked great and was hot.
First, let me say that I loved their dark-roast coffee! It was so much better than the regular coffee you'd get at any other restaurant. My son ordered Santa Fe enchiladas, I had a Construction Worker omelette (which was chock full of bacon, sausage, and ham), and my vegetarian daughter stuck with a Belgian waffle with a side dish of eggs. Even though she couldn't eat the homefries, she was in love with the taste of both the eggs and the waffle. She has proclaimed this one of her favorite places now! My son's enchiladas were great -- just enough spice to give it a kick but not overpowering. (We all tend to order different plates and share.) My omelette was just perfectly cooked. In reality, it was really a giant pile of meat somehow held together in an egg wrap. :-D All of it was delicious, and they didn't skimp on the portion size.
As for the price, three coffees with those three breakfast choices came out to $44.00. Considering the portion size and the exceptional quality, this is a great price! I could have paid that much at IHOP, too, but this is just sooooo much better than any place like that. You can't go wrong here. I will be back again and again to try all of their other...
Read moreOkay..I LOVE THIS PLACE & THEIR FOOD, I DO!! THEY ALSO HAVE A DELICIOUS BAKERY & FRESH SQUEEZED OJ!! But...I have been here a few times throughout the last 5-6 years & things have changed.. Everything as it concerns the economy has changed..so i suppose the price point reflects this. I Love, LOVE their bacon infused dishes, but I just wasnt feel'in the service..(maybe they were'nt feel'n me & my Companion? The hospitality, as it concerns seating options (My lady & I desired a window, secluded, quiet if available.)The ENTIRE front dining room was available, but just not @the time we chose to dine,"3:30pm" apparently..I was informed of sum scheduled rotation of what dining rooms are available, when..LOL So we were bunched in btween 2 other alredy seated tables in another room with 5-8 other available tables, & 1 w/ a window.. I had to ask for that table.. I mean come on.. Our "Hostess?", knew my preferences & yet seemingly(?) completely ignored them.. So i insisted VERY POLITELY, that we wuld wait for them to clear this particular table..which begrudgingly they did.. I dunno, maybe having worked in "more formal" dining restaurants- Haydn-Zugs, Doneckers." I had delusions of: I'm a polite, gracious patron who doesnt mind paying watever & tipping accordingly- I did only tip $6 considering..usually $20 no matter, according 2my experience-but expecting GREAT, ENGAGING SERVICE & DELICIOUS FOOD..? Maybe youth, inexperience is the culprit? Or I am an entitled, though mannerly, delusional 40 something.? Yes, this is a long review, for context i guess..We ordered the Bacon Jam Grilled Cheese, Chicken Tenders, "Tomato Bisque-NOT", Coffee, Ginger Ale. And it just seemed intially my server wasn't listening wen I ordered "1" NOT 2, Waters w/Lemon.(She brought back 2)- I guess habitually? Having seated a 2Top, she just grabbed 2..? Not a complaint just the truth. My Companion NEVER drinks tap water, so i always only order 1. Gracie's Is & WILL always be my swine dive of the bacon variety. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! But go b4 3pm if you want ANY BREAKFAST STYLE MENU ITEMS!! 8 to 3pm is breakfast. The menu is shortened, excluding ALL B-Fast items. Just saying...STEP IT UP on the service PLEASE as ur price point implies some form of EXCELLENCE.. $5.32 for a PLAIN 12 oz(?) chocolate milk.. Almost $12 for 6 heavily breaded(by hand?), though quality"Fresh"(not the frozen in a bag kind)chicken. My most recent experience, is all.. I HOPE my NEXT time is on a better level.. In closing, I suppose THE FOOD ITSELF carries...
