Fiske & Main, Specialty Wine and Cheese — Restaurant in Upton

I love wine but I know next to nothing about it. I typically get whatever big-chain store puts their sales clerk’s stamp of approval (or a pretty label hehe). I recently discovered Fiske & Main, and not only can I find a unique and interesting bottle to impress my mother-in-law with impeccable taste, but I can also find tons of affordable options for me and my husband to enjoy after a normal work day. The wine merchant is very friendly and informative, and provides terrific recommendations and pairings. I’ve also made a habit of adding their cheese and crackers to my cart every time I go in — so good!

Fiske and Main has one of the most talented and knowledgable wine professionals in the country running the shop. I first met Richard, the owner, at the iconic Winecellar of Silene decades ago and am thrilled that he's running his own shop. The shelves are expertly curated with selections across all budgets and tastes. That expertise carries over to his craft beer, cheese, charcuterie, and food selections as well. What do I love the most? When my wife and I walk in the shop and say, "Richard, this is what we're thinking for tonight..." And then the magic begins. First of all, I live in Brookline and am surrounded by decent wine shops, yet I drive from Brookline to Upton to shop at Fiske & Main. Secondly, I haven’t bought anything I didn’t love. Every bottle has been stellar. Thirdly, I don’t know anyone with a better palate than Richard. If it’s in his shop, it’s a delicious wine. His knowledge and advice are second to none. And to put icing on the cake, he’s the “guy” who finds amazing buys: truly superior wines at a reasonable price, mostly from small family producers who care about what’s in the bottle.
